God gave the command in the ten commandments.
Exodus 20:3-6" You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall not make for yourself and idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. You shall not worship them or serve them;for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments."
An idol is anything that takes the place of God or your time with him. This site could be an idol if it is where your whole life is poured out. It could be the earning of money to keep up with the Jones'. It could be TV.
God also instructs us to honor our father and mother and to yield to the authority figures in our lives but we are not to worship them as God.

Define reverence.
I assume you're referring to "No other Gods before me", in Exodus etc. referring to a reverence and awe as befitting God.
But His Word also says Honor your father and your mother and Love your neighbor as yourself.

Many many many. The whole of the Old Testament is about God being jealous and demanding that people only worship him.
