...would it be wrong to use some of the same baby items that I used on her brother?
This is just a theoretical question that is a result of my joking around.
I am pregnant with my first child. It's a boy! I have gone out and spent so much money on baby boy items - it's crazy. And his cute little clothes won't last cuz he will grow out of them so fast.
I was joking and said if I have a girl, I'll just have to use the same clothes, blankets, etc. to save money! Besides, a baby doesn't know what he or she is wearing! Not only that, what's wrong with a girl who likes sports or cars, etc.
If I do eventually have a second child that turns out to be a girl, I am sure I will be more than happy to go out and buy her girly things, but what if I couldn't afford it? Would it really be wrong?
Just curious of what people think would be the sociological or psychological effect, if any.

Someone asked... "What's the joke?" I was just joking around with my hunny and told him that if we end up having a girl, I'm gonna use all the same stuff. He looked at me like I was crazy and told me that he wouldn't want me to cross dress our child. He knew I was joking and I just started laughing. ***Maybe it's just a pregnant woman's humor in her 8th month! LOL!

I just had a boy in December. I've thought the same things -- we've spent a small fortune on our son's clothes, blankets, room, etc. If we have another baby -- (hopefullly :) -- we will probably use some of the same blankets and bibs and things like that. A lot of the onesies and outfits could be used for a girl.
Of course, I say all of this -- but I imagine that if we have a girl, we'll buy all new stuff. I'm crazy like that! :)
Good luck with your son -- it's so fun being a parent!

If you can't afford to buy a lot of new stuff if you have a girl later on, you could use what you have saved. A little baby doesn't know or care what they have on as long as it's clean and dry.
If your next child is a girl, you would have time to get some girly things- new or from garage sales or thrift stores.
Right now, just enjoy looking forward to holding your little boy baby and dressing him up in the cute stuff you have.

I'd reuse all the baby clothes, maybe just buy a few girly outfits. In the early monthes they grow so quickly, doesn't really matter anyhow. Besides, it's OK for a girl to dress a bit tomboyish, the other way I won't even try.

My personal opinion, is that each child should, if at all possible, have new items. This is a new life brought into the world, and it should start with new things, the best the baby can get. They should be 'babied' as much as possible at home, because you don't know what will happen to them as they get older, or who they will end up with (who maybe a person who does not treat them well).
My parents always treated me like a princess (even now after 9 years of marriage). They have done this because they said they wanted me to know I was treasured, and that, at the least, I will have been treated like a princess and know what it is (in case there is no one else in my life who does). I'll tell you, it helps your child to develop self worth and learn to know not to settle for anything or anyone. Of course, there is a fine line between treasuring and spoiling. I am not a spoiled person (at least in my mind), but I am a princess!

it wouldnt be wrong at all. At that age I'm sure they could care less if they look better than those celebrity babies, you know Apple, coco Pilot, kel-el , you know the babies Im talking about! anyway It's always nice to not have to go out and spend a fortune all over again. If you didnt want to do that you could always sell the baby clothes on ebay. ebay is the love of my life! Think about it, what man would let you buy clothes at the drop of a hat, no questions asked? and two seconds later, turn around and sell it! sorry way off subject! congrats on your baby and Im sure you'll be a great mother, Im sure the excitement is in full throttle right about now.

What's the joke? It's perfectly okay to use the same sheets, bed, clothes, bottles, etc for a second child. It's just on the clothes if it's clearly boy, I wouldn't take a girl out in it, unless you just like hearing what a cute little boy, when it's not.
There is no psychological damage, the kid is a baby.

I dont see why not. That's what we are planning to do. Your at home, babies dont care what they wear as long as they are warm, and no one else is going to see the boy clothes.
