What I'm really asking is, can a spell be cast without the invocation of a god other than the God of the Bible? I have asked a couple of times already and still do not quite understand. Serious answers only please.

Yes.A spell can be cast without the evoking or invoking or a God or Goddess. Praying for someone to get better or for yourself to gain a better situation and believing in what you are praying for is basically in a sense casting a spell. Most Christians will not accept this as an answer....but it is true. Hopefully this will help you out.

the devil is a god of sort, a much lesser one the God the creator, but nevertheless he has been referred to in those terms before, and any spell casting is witchcraft and witchcraft is of the devil, not of the Holy, pure and righteous God that Christians worship. There are many more than just one spirit at work influencing people here on Earth, but there is only one you should listen to and that is the Holy Spirit. God cannot lie, so whatever he tells you you know you can believe, the devil cannot tell the truth, so whatever he tells you is a lie, maybe the opposite is true, maybe just some part of it is a lie, but be sure it is not truth, if it comes from the devil and his demons. Praying for someone is not a spell. God will never violate free will and if people are asking God to do that, he won't listen and they may open the door for the devil, as he is a manipulator. You can pray for influence in a person's life, or for revelation that they may see the light, but you cannot violate their free will, in other words, if they choose to listen and believe the truth that is up to them. A spell causes people to do things against their will and that is demonic. Christians DO have authority over evil spirits as Christ gave it to us, and we can bind them and cast them out and make them obey, as they are not children of God and do not have free will or Holyness in them at all. If someone binds an evil spirit that has possesed a person they are not binding the person, but the wickedness that has come over them. Really the more you study God's word the Holy Bible, the better you'll understand all of this.

First, why do want to cast a spell? Is it to get your own way, no matter what?

If you have given your life to Jesus, asked Him into your heart, then you have nothing to do with puny spells. But you have everything to do with the creator God of the universe and your prayers will go much farther than muttering some incantation.

If you belong to Jesus, He will most likely block any spell that you might fumble around with anyway.

Prayer is more powerful than anything else when it is offered by a humble and contrite heart.

My sacrifice [the sacrifice acceptable] to God is a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart [broken down with sorrow for sin and humbly and thoroughly penitent], such, O God, You will not despise. (Psalm 51:17 (Amplified Bible))

If you're even thinking about casting a spell, you're not a Christian. Spells are cast by invocation of demons, not God. If you read your Bible you'll realize that God likes to do all the work Himself. You have to pray and ask Him to do it. To perform any type of "casting" or "rituals" is blasphemous and is sinning against God. You cannot invoke God.

No, Christians don't cast spells. I used to be pagan and now I am a Christian. I will try to explain the difference between a prayer and a spell.

A spell involves working to change reality to conform to YOUR will. A pagan (or someone else that does spells) sees a need or has some other motivational factor (there are too many to explore here, it would take forever), and in response does a spell to attempt to change reality according to what they themselves want.

When a Christian prays, they do so out of some of the same types of motivation... either they have or see a need, or are afraid. But there are also some very different types of motivation-- just wanting to rest in and enjoy the presence of God, or just simply wanting to dialog with Him for example. A Christian's prayer to the one true God is not a wanting to exert their will over reality. A Christian's prayer is a seeking of God's will, His help, and His guidance--but leaving things for God in His wisdom to decide. Everything is ultimately up to God, and we gain nothing in trying to force our will on reality.

I was a wiccan for a while before I was a Christian, and I understand your confusion. I was misinformed on many levels about what Christianity is and isn't, and also about what paganism is and isn't.

Here is a website that might explain it better than I have... I'm not always great at making myself understood. http://exwitch.org/mambo/content/view/68/36/

For more info on complicated issues like this, you might try http://christiananswers.net .

I also urge you to visit http://www.exwitch.org/cms/ and contact one of the people affiliated with the site if you have questions that aren't addressed directly on the site. They explain things perhaps a little more thoroughly than I can. This site is for pagans mostly but has things that are relevant for everyone.

A Christian, as in a follower of the Bible, is not going to cast spells on anyone. There are passages in the Bible that specifically talk about how we should stay away from signs, fortune tellers, mediums and the like, because they are not of the God of the Bible. Are you a Christian?

Yes Christians can cast spells. When I lived in the San Francisco Bay Aria in the early 90s there were several Christians who were witnessing to the Pagan community in the same fashion we find in the Bible; which is very different then what we see about 99.95% of Christians doing today.

For the record several of them were kicked out of their Churches for associating with Pagans (???!!!), even worse they attended our Rituals and even participated in them just like Paul admitted to doing in the book of Galatians. And they found plenty of converts by setting an example and not being preachy or judgmental of Paganism.

In any case they were sometimes impressive I saw one strike a match to light a candle when calling the southern quarter and the candle lit before she got the match anywhere close to the wick and then when she closed the quarter the candle went out as she ended her closing of the quarter when it was burning well.

When you cast a spell you are not innovating the God of the Christian Bible. You are opening yourself to unclean spirits. If you are a Christian you should not dabble in such things. Be careful. If you don't have Jesus in your heart you are vulnerable to Satan.

That would be more like praying for someone. I you mean to cast a spell in the name of God in Heaven - That would be like telling God what to do and to do it now. God works in his own time not our own. God answers all prayers, we just don't always like the answers.
