i go out most weekends and end up in a pub or club. but what is the best way to approach a girl you would like to get to know better, like when you are both sober....

Walk up to her, introduce yourself, ask her what she does, etc. Offer to buy her A drink - recommended. It's not that we're that cheap or looking for guys to buy us things, but it really is a nice gesture. Besides, we're so used to it, that a guys comes out cheap if he doesn't do it. (what a turn off, by the way)
Be polite and ask her to meet you some time for a drink. A touch of humour wouldn't hurt, either, hehe.

Smile......eye contact........and take the rest from there.
It is very difficult in this day and age to know if people are single in clubs/pubs, so please do not use the dodgy line 'Where is your boyfriend tonight?'
If you like dancing then get yourself on the dancefloor and flirt with girls that way!
It takes a confident man to approach any girl so if someone knocks you back, do not be put off...just think NEXT!

first my friend realize that automatically in a club or pub your stereotyped as a guy wanting some booty so your first words have to convince this woman that is not your intentions. you have to approach her and just be real my friend not stupid pick up lines just you being you and you should be fine now if you dont have any game then stick with the basics hi my name is this can i buy you a drink ask about her, what she does show interest, only if you are remember i said be real thats the biggest thing

Steps to success:
1. Show her your best smile! If reciprocated, then go to Step 2. Otherwize, stop right there and look at someone else.
2. Minutes later, show her another big smile. This is to make sure that the first time she was actually smiling at you the first time and not at someone else.

I really like it when guys just smile at me and won't stop staring at me. Then I go and talk to THEM.
Which I am guessing would make it easier for them.
But some girls find it annoying so...Ask to dance with her.
