I have this prob too , and i am 48 lol ,, I've decided in my case...(mom is the 1 that tries to tell me what i should do) she is wanting me to live her life out as she would have liked to have done, her mother did to her and so it goes... Vicious cycle,if you let them do it. I let her say what she feels , I'd never disrespect her , but I DO NOT do what she tells me to either . :) Just grin and bear it, but do what is BEST FOR YOU and YOURS, they will get over it , remember a mothers' or fathers' love is unconditional :) GL

They are repeating behaviour of past generations.
Read the book. THE DANCE OF ANGER
Write down bounderies for your family and consequences if they cross those boundries.. Just don't be too hard on them.
If they are hurthing your marriage, then the marraige comes first and formost.
You make a choice to NOT continue this family tradition

That is part of being in the family..
Otherwise, get out of their life.. go somewhere where they will not be able to reach you.
Live alone.

because they are dysfunctional and want to have a family member that is a problem, so they look for things to pick on, just ignore them.

They just want to make sure you are living your life right. They may not realize they are pushy. They just love you, that's all :)

Because they care about you and want what's best for your future. They are wiser because they have gone through more life too. Unfortunately, they are usually right about everything.

Because they love you. And they probably also find it really funny when you get exasperated when they do try to butt in.

I don't let them butt into my life anymore....It's very annoying especially when they give unwanted advice.
