Since Puerto Rico is not in the contenental united states there are probibaly only so many flights that fly in to the island's main airport per day and depending on the ammount of people coming in and out airlines would probibaly send the smalles, most efficent plane possible for the traffic.

It sounds as though a lot of people are saying the runway is not long enough. That could be 1 reason. Another reason may be that no airline flies that long of a distance that justifies using a Boeing 747 or the airlines that fly to Puerto Rico don't have the 747 in their fleet.

I really don't know, but I have some ideas why.
maybe runways are not long enough, or taxiways are not appropriate for the weight or the wingspan, another reason is about safety maybe the fire-department hasn't that category.
American Airlines which is one the principal airlines operating, doesn't have B-747 .
you shoud call this person at the Airport, if you really want to know .

The weight of the aircraft is a big factor , the runway is not capable of handling such an aircraft , another factor is the runway is far to short for the aircraft to land safely.

the runway is most likly to small and the demand for such a airplane to fly there is probably not great and most of the flight are coming from the united states so they dont need to be big.
