Yes it can show up as pain.
You need to deal with the stress, not the neck pain. Removing yourself from the stressful situation helps. Exercise too. A good diet also helps.

Yeh. I have the same problem with pains in my chest. When pain is associated with stress, the best thing to do is remedy the stress. I'm sure physiotherapy really works well for getting rid of the pain, but not the CAUSE of the pain. Whenever I get stressed I just try to relax and think the problem through logically; either by writing my ideas down or taking to a good mate about them. The pain sure goes away a lot quicker, AND it's cheaper!!!!
Good luck!

Yes, it definitely can show up as pain. When I had a really stressful job, I found that I got terrible back pains. Massage etc will only treat the symptoms, not the cause. If you're not in a position to avoid the stress, something like yoga could help. A good yoga instructor will ask about any particular problem areas, and the relaxation techniques might help to avoid the problem flaring up again.

find new ways of dealing with situations which you find stressful or upsetting. such as walking away from the source or if its work-related taking a walk away from your desk and thinking about how you can tackle the task ahead or buy playdoh and drawing pins or something similar so every time you feel upset or stressed you can push the pins into the playdoh. therefore redirecting the stress and upset. hope this helps all the best!!

Your muscles are tightening and cramping. A hot shower can help loosen the muscles, also a nice massage. Try deep breathing as well when you start feeling the muscles tighten, and of course, plenty of ibuprofen. Good luck!
