Get used to it...they change up your medication every three months or so to get the right combination. Some things work for some people, other things don't. It's pretty much hit and miss.

Good luck!

Talk to your psychiatrist about why this medication was prescribed. For bipolar it is usually not used by itself but in conjunction with a mood stabilizer. Start making a chart of the medications that you use, how well they work (allow at least a month), what side effects are present and the combinations of medicine that you have taken. Make sure to keep accurate records because they will help in the future if you have any problems. Include the date began and the date discontinued and be sure to keep accurate and great notes. Before you go to your doctor, write down any questions and be sure to take your complete list of medications with you. This is helpful because six years from now when your doctor asks you if you have tried a certain combination of medications, you can answer him without his going through 102 pages of your records.

Speak to who ever prescribed you Quietipine-it often used as a second line treatment in bi-polar.

Read up online about your treatment and ask your doctor if poss.

U say 'possibly identified'? So it sounds like u have some symptoms of bi-polar and hopefully this medication will have a positive outcome for you. Otherwise another treatment may be prescribed or even a nother diagnosis. Good luck read and ask questions.

Seroquel is a newer generation drug for the treatment of bipolar disorder. Some do exceptionally well with it, some don't. As with most mental health medications, it can take some patience and time to find the one right for you. There are many out there to try. You need to trust your physician, develop a good relationship with him/her, so that you can openly and honestly discuss the effects the medication may have on you.

Quetiapine has Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and international approvals for the treatment of schizophrenia and acute mania in bipolar disorder. It is also used off-label to treat other disorders, such as post-traumatic stress disorder, alcoholism, obsessive compulsive disorder, anxiety disorders, hallucinations in Parkinson's disease patients using ropinirole, and as a sedative for those with sleep disorders. It has also shown to be effective as monotherapeutic treatment of depressive episodes associated with bipolar depression, for which AstraZeneca is currently seeking FDA approval. An approval of the application would make Quetiapine, according to the manufacturer, the first drug on the market that may be used to treat both the depressive and the manic states of bipolar disorder

The most common side effect is sedation, and is prescribed specifically for this effect in patients with sleep disorders. Seroquel will put the patient into a drowsy state, and will help the patient fall asleep. It is one of the most sedating of all anti psychotic drugs, rivaling even the most sedating older antipsychotics. Many prescriptions call for the entire dose to be taken before bedtime because of its sedative effects. Although quetiapine is approved by the FDA for the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, it is frequently prescribed for off-label purposes including insomnia or the treatment of anxiety disorders.

Seroquel is good for mood disorders. I take it for my bipolar and I take it for sleeping- make sure you take it at night versus morning. Because it makes you VERY sleepy. It'll make ya sleep like a baby though! You might want to consider Depakote too (not positive on spelling) Good luck!

Quetiapine (brand name=Seroquel) is used to treat the symptoms of psychotic conditions such as schizophrenia and mania associated with bipolar disorder.

If your diagnosis includes manic symptoms or behavior then this is a typical medication for this illness. If you went to a trained psychiatrist I would trust his/her recommendations.

Seroquel is used for mood stabilization, as with many meds it s found to be effective for several different things. A psychatrist is the best person to get information on if it is best for you and why.
