Because they're a bunch of self-serving, arrogant, proselytizing hypocrites who like their comfort zone where it is, thank you very much.

Dear Michael X,

First let me say that your statement actually verifies one thing expressed in the word of God which is everyone is a sinner.

Secondly the Bible also teaches that not everyone who claims to be a Christian is a Christian.

Thirdly, while not perfect, the man or woman who seeks after God will seek to grow more and more like Jesus- and in that way they are really trying to obey all of it- though they know that they often fail. Some reasons is because people just try on their own strength, and are still needing to learn how to rely on God.

No one is perfect but Jesus- and that's why He is to be imitated. He was tempted in all ways, and yet sinless (as the Bible states). The Bible doesn't teach that we can be Jesus- but we can be Christ-like in our actions and attitudes with the help of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus summed it up pretty well: love God, and love others. Instead of focusing on a long list of dos and don't(s) that's a great way to follow Jesus. Is the action/thought, etc. something God would approve of, is my actions/thougths, etc. going to be a blessing or curse to another.

Why don't i obey all of God's word perfectly- because i'm a sinner. But why do i desire to follow all of God's word perfectly, because i'm a sinner who has received the grace of Christ.

Hope that helps,

Nickster

Jesus obeyed all of it

legally we are righteous through the cross
as far as being changed being forgiven by grace we are moved to follow the 'spirit of the law' the intent not necessairly 'the letter'

another purpose of the Law is to show our need for a savior and our need for forgiveness

1 Timothy
8Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it lawfully, 9understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, 10the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers,[b] liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound[c] doctrine, 11in accordance with the glorious gospel of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted.

Because the term "Christian" is used for so many different religions. Fact is, even the most devoted Christian would have difficulty obeying it. Most "Christians" don't read it daily. How can you obey what you don't know?

I was reading some of the answers-heehee. Of course...'For we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God' Of course, Satan is tricking us...but, if we don't believe just so then we get sent to Hell. By the oh-so-loving deity.
Some of the NT writers must have realized the OT rules were disobeyed, even by God (I'm thinking of the 'Thou shall not murder' commandment...oh, and there's the 'Thou shall not lie' commandment but then He goes and 'harden's the Pharoah's heart' in the Moses-Exodus story), so they developed the Jesus loophole so now Xians could admit their 'sins', be forgiven, and still get into heaven so that way, it's OK to not know everything or do everything right

Christians follow Jesus. The teaching of Jesus appear in the New Testament. There is an Old Testament and a New Testament. The New Testament makes many parts of the Old Testament unnecessary.

All that aside, Jesus said we would all fail in our attempts to follow God's commands perfectly. We follow Jesus, so we know that we can't follow it ALL (as you put it).

Hopefully this clears things up for you. You were under the wrong impression.

Because the Old Testament was the "rules" before Jesus came and then we were saved by grace. The old testament "rules" no longer apply.

It is amazing the number of Christians who do not get that part of it.

Christians are just like anyone else, we all are imperfect sinners. The difference is that, as Christians, we can repent of our sins (if our heart is true) and have those sins forgiven.

Because we are all human and screw up from time to time. You could have just as well said the same thing about the Qu'ran or any other book of belief or non-belief. Are you perfect? I already know the answer, because no one is.

Here's how we treated the last perfect person, we crucified Him at Golgotha!

Peace

And create more confusion? The bible isn't exactly a straight flow chart here.. it's one of those gnarled trees with it's branches all tangled. There is not enough consistency in it to be able to follow every single edict to the letter.

No it is just a collection of recycled myths. There is no such thing as "God". Humans and all life evolved on this planet. There is ZERO PROOF for God. If however you do believe the bible is the word of God, then why aren't you out killing queers like the bible says to? Or for that matter killing people for the countless other things is says to kill people for?

because there are appocriful texts, these texts are not bivine and not part of the authentic bible. furthermore, many christians have become lazy, and decided to pick and choose that which they obey, and they will pay a heavy price for it.
