I live in a new subdivision. I've been the only house on my street for a few months. They just finished the house next door, so I finally have some neighbors.

Do people still "welcome" others to the neighborhood?

If so, how should I welcome them?

Sure, why not? Knock on their door naked and offer them some pie!

Yes, people STILL do, but in this day and age you do not see it as much as you use to. The majority of human beings do not care for one another like they use to and just look out for themselves. I would welcome them to the neighborhood. Why not? If they are cruel and mean when you go to introduce yourself, then at least you tried.

Good ice breaker

Easy enough, people are not mean, but do not like being bugged when busy, they are probably still strengthening their home.
Do not worry you'll see them out side, then introduce yourself.

That's how I met my new neighbours

Let them settle down a little bit. Make sure their not trouble makers. If they seem cool, invite them over for a cookout and some drinks.

I still welcome people. I put together a little basket with local delivery flyers, light cleaning materials, paper towel, soap, TP and just say welcome. If I can, I cook a big meal when i notice the truck pull up and offer for them to grab a bite.

yes i think you should welcome them into the neighborhood, although i dont think that its too popular these days but so what. just show yourself friendly, its up to them to accept it or not. you dont have to bake anything or buy anything. a simple hi, my name is... i am glad to finally have a neighbor, you know, just small talk should take care of it.

You could take them a basket of fruit, or bake some cookies, or a potted plant, what a nice gesture!!

Aww that's sweet. You should totally welcome them! Maybe with a housewarming gift like some basic groceries? Salt, Pepper, Ketchup, local bread, peanut butter, jam?
