What about non christian religions? Will they be destroyed? What about tribes living in the middle of nowhere with traditions that leave western society cold? Almost barbaric in our eyes. Any answers or ideas? I was brought up on fear of iminent destruction and at almost 41 I'm starting to doubt it. Whay say you?

Armageddon is very real. Here is the basic order in which thing will happen

1. The rapture
2. The tribulation
3. Armageddon
4. 1,000 years of peace ( satan, the anti christ and the beast bound and thrown into the pit of hell.)
5. Satan loosed out of his prison
6. Earth destroyed
7. Great White Throne Judgment
8. The reign of Christ on the new earth

Once the rapture happens, God will send down two prophets to give those people who are left on earth one final chance to accept Christ as Saviour. Those who accept will go to heaven when they die. Remember though, during the tribulation, people will not be able to die. They will have to survive much torture. The Bible says they will pray for death to come but death will not find them. If they do not accept Christ then yes, they will go to hell. ALL people (including tribes in the middle of nowhere) will have the opportunity to accept Christ.

It may seem like it is taking forever. But remember, this is not in our time. It is all in God's control. We have only been waiting for 2, 000 years. It took 4,000 years from the beginning of the earth until Jesus was sent down to earth.

Yes, Armageddon is real. This will be a cleansing of the world! All who are judged by God as evil and non believers will be eliminated! It is to start in the middle east, that's why we watch it so closely. As it can happen now at any time! We just don't know when, All we know is the world is set for it! 41 is no reason to lose heart, I am 62. All we have to go by are the signs described in the scriptures. Christ don't even Know! And there, has been a steady out pouring of the signs coming to past. Are you aware of how to tell the difference between Christ and the Anti-Christ? Back then when the scriptures were written the word ANTI meant to take the place of, of course that would as well mean he is against Christ! But, it can also mean more thought for those who believe!

"You say what's going to happen on this earth when the Rapture occurs? You'll be riding along in an automobile; you'll be the driver, perhaps; you're a Christian; there'll be several people in the automobile with you, maybe someone who is not a Christian. When the trumpet sounds, you and the other born-again Christians in that automobile will be instantly caught away, you'll disappear, leaving behind only your clothing and physical things that cannot inherit eternal life. That unsaved person or persons in the automobile will suddenly be startled to find that the car is moving along without a driver, and suddenly somewhere crashes. Those saved people in the car have disappeared. Other cars on the highway driven by believers will suddenly be out of control. Stark pandemonium will occur on that highway and on every highway in the world where Christians are caught away from the world." -Jerry Falwell

LoL .. If you cannot tell this is fairy tale non-sense i don't know what is? This is just them wishing that their god will prove himself to the heathens. It's just another idle threat basically.

The Bible even states that the end of the world was supposed to happen during the time Jesus supposedly existed.

"I promise you Jesus Christ was not the Son of God and that man will never come back again, swooping down from the clouds to lift you all into paradise forever. I also understand that you'd like that to be the case, and therein lies the real problem." - Normal Bob Smith

I feel that we are definitely closer than when I was 41.

The Bible teaches that Armageddon (See Revelation 16:16) will definitely happen. (The beasts of Revelation are figurative - big discussion possible on that alone)

Jesus foretold that the Good News would be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:14

So, everyone that needs a chance, will get one, since God can read hearts 1 Samuel 16:7, Jeremiah 17:10

The thing is the majority of the world will choose to ignore it's approach, until it is too late, but as Ezekiel brings out repeatedly in his Bible book: Then they will know!

But, this subject requires much more time for discussion than is allowed here!

Note to Tim (below) The apostle John wrote the book of Revelation AFTER the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem, so how can it apply to that?

The Bible plainly forecasts the coming of yet another great war. It will be a war to eclipse anything the world has ever seen. It will embrace most of the nations of the world; and its focal point will be in the Middle East, where the armies of the world will some day deploy themselves, centering at Mount Megiddo. This great war has been called the battle of Armageddon. In the midst of this terrifying war that could destroy civilization the Lord Jesus Christ will return to this earth in glory and power to judge the nations of the world and set up His own glorious kingdom.

"The Scripture describes this great battle in the sixteenth chapter of the book of Revelation. The sixth angel will pour out his vial upon the great river Euphrates. We are told that the waters of the Euphrates River will be 'dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.' The dry riverbed will permit unhindered passage of the great armies of the East to the scene of the battle. Unclean spirits, demons, will go out into the world to the kings of the earth 'to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty' (verses 12-14).

"The armies of the world will focalize on a point known as Armageddon, the Mount of Megiddo, and there the final world conflict will take place. The extent of this conflict is indicated in the ninth chapter of Revelation, where the army that is to cross the Euphrates River is described; and in that chapter the immensity of this final world war is carefully described ... We are aware of the shuffling of the stage in preparation for the greatest battle of all time that will certainly take place in the years ahead. The crisis of the present hour should shatter the optimism concerning human nature of every person listening to my voice. The only reliable hope for the future must be bound up in a living faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord."

As all things are born, all things will die. There's probably like a 0.1% chance that the Earth (or its inhabitants) won't be destroyed somehow One Day In The Future.

This leaves ANY religion open to dub this day whatever they want to. When it happens, their followers will believe them. The reason no religion I've heard of states the approximate date the end of days will happen is because nobody knows. It's as simple as that.

Every day the end of days doesn't come, the statement will still hold true, "The end of days is coming some day in the future."

First, I am of the opinion that the Armageddon in Revelation is speaking of the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD. The notion of a far future destruction and apocolyptic war is a fairly new interpretation.

We are assured that Christ will return. Whether or not it is in our lifetime is unknown and unknowable. What will it be like for Christians? A glorious time of celebration. For those that do not trust in Christ? That is up to God. God's Word says that he will have mercy on whom he wishes to have mercy. And that those who long for Him will find Him. In Christian thought, we are all, believer and non-believer, given a measure of common grace which allows us the ability to reach up to God. Yes, even the tribe in the middle of Sub-Saharan Africa or the rainforest of Brazil.

Armageddon is a ridiculous notion conjured up by power hungry people to scare other people into their religion.

Although society as we know it will change dramatically soon, no one will be smitten :-D, don't worry.

Hardest prison bars are made from FEAR, not steel, but you can make them disappear at will... :-)
