Is there any new medicine that I could try. I have been taking 40mg of oxycontin 2 a day, could that be making me sleepy.
I feel like narcotics are the only thing that will make me feel a little better. I just wish there was something else I could do. Also I haven't gotten my period in like 7 months. I would guess because of my headaches and my stress from everything. What should I do???

Obviously you are seeing a doctor if you are taking that drug, but since its not working for you why not switch doctors? are you seeing a neurologist? how about getting a referral to the Diamond Headache Clinic in chicago? Don't let headaches rule your life, there are dozens of preventive daily drugs and other drugs that can be taken to stop a headache once it has started. Keep asking for more and different treatments if the things you have now aren't working. I had migraines for many years until my neurologist finally found the right preventive drug for me to take every day.

It might have to do with sinus congestion. You might consider trying an over the counter antihistamine like Benadryl or Sudafed. Also, try cutting caffeine out of your diet (slowly, if you consume it every day - this will only make the headaches worse if you stop all at once!), as well as chocolate, peanuts & nut byproducts, wheat products, and start experimenting with your diet. Also, try getting more sleep ... it could be a matter of needing only an extra hour or something! If the doc says they're "tension" headaches try a homeopathic pill called "Calmes Forte" (by Hylands) available at any good healthfood store. You might also consult with a homeopathist and see what they might recommend.

Did your doctor inform you that taking Oxycontin can actually give you headaches? What you may be suffering from is narcotic head pain. The only way to know is not to take it and see if your headache goes away and if it does then you need to ask your doctor about switching you to something different. Hope this helps. Good luck, hope your head stops hurting.

Chronic headaches can be caused by TMJ. Especially of they occur on one side only. This is a joint disorder in the jaw. Go see an orthodontist or a dentist will point you in the right direction.
