Bring exactly what is on your required list, nothing more. You will have an opportunity to purchase other items when you have reached that point in basic. If you bring extra crap, it won't matter, because they'll either take it away, or make you buy another one just like it. Good luck though.

Entertainment that's funny that you think you might have time for entertainment. Seriously though, as others have said, the clothes on you back the rest they will have you buy the first day when you go to the PX to get supplies. Anything else you want can be shipped to you when you get to your first duty station.

Didn't your recruiting office give you a kit list?
Your spare time will be limited, so for entertainment, I would suggest something that you can enjoy while doing something else.
Preferable, something that you won't be the only one to enjoy. A small MP3 player with small speakers would be popular. Depending on which military you are joining, room for personnal stuff will be limited at best, so make it count.
Shoes, dpending again on your regulations, you definitely want your own sneakers. A pair of high-quality cross-trainers is a must. Trust me.
Comfort items, pictures of home, friends, family, special individual, can help a lot or make you really homsesick. That's one you got to answer by yourself.

As a boot? Yourself, the clothes on your back & some cash $75 tops. Other than that? ID, paperwork and not much else. The rest gets put in a cardboard box and shipped home. You need some cash to buy stuff till payday. The rest is handed to you, right down to the underwear.

listen take your bank card social security card, and the clothes on your back, OH bring soap scrub, tooth brush, and paste, don't take towels shower shoes if you do the towel should be brown and your shoes black with no brand names, don't bother buying running shoes they make you buy them regardless weather you have some or not they need to fit them to you, and don't go to sick call all the time faking things because all that will do is delay you date of dispatch stay focused you will feel proud to finish bct and ait avoid split opps. that's only good in the beginning and then it sucks when you come back. stay motivated and hydrated. disregard the lame list they give you they will take you to the px.

Bible, toothbrush, SSN card, driver's license or govt. ID. Usually they will give you a cash stipend at reception station in order to purchase toiletries and jogging shoes. You will be given adequate time to go to the PX with your company/unit for those purchases after you are issued your uniform.

Doesn't matter what you bring,, it's gonna be hell no matter what. My advice to you is just don't show up. Fake an injury. Say you tore your ACL. Fake it with your doctor. Or say your having migranes. Anything. The only real chance you have of getting out of the foolish decision you made is before you have to show up, and the best and easyist way is any med condition that will stop you from going through basic training. If you ignor my advice, and get there, and wonder how to get out,, just fall out on the runs, all the time at about 2 miles,, make it convincing,, let them yell, you'll be out in about 2 weeks.
