Life is trying to reach a state of perfection.
Life began with simple chemical reactions, some lasted longer than others because they were better suited to the environment they were in. They gradually became more complex and better adapted, 4.5 billion years later we have human beings.
But with human beings Life has become so advanced that it can comprehend its own existence. Not only that, it can actually effect the course of evolution using logic and not just trial and error.
Just look at how human beings have created all the different breeds of dogs we see today with just wolves as a starting point, and that’s before we even had genetic engineering.
Once we find a way cure all the diseases that are left, such as cancer, with gene therapy and stem cell research etc. I don’t think we will really have to evolve our bodies much further.
The next step will be our minds, and as recent events have shown we still have a long way to go with that.
So you could say the meaning of life is evolution.
If you want to know how all that relates to you, well it’s all about trying to better yourself.
Try and learn as much about the world as you can, be a kind caring intelligent person and look after the people around you. Then pass all that on to your kids and try to make sure they make a better job of it than you did ...
...after all that is the meaning of life.

The meaning of life, in general, is to reproduce to continue the population. You may have been wondering, however, what the meaning of YOUR life is. If that is the case, you will not find answers here. The meaning of an individual's life, basically his/her reason for continuing life, is buried inside. You have to figure out what it is that you have the strongest passion for, and run with it. It may be as common as playing a musical instrument, but it may be vague and obscure, like... inventing new water faucets (just an example). All I'm saying is, keep trying new things until you find the one that fits most (you'll know when you find it) and thrive off of that.
Good luck and have a nice day. :-)

We are the stewards of our world and what we do impacts others and other things positively or negatively. We are obligated to do take the gifts we have and enjoy them and cherish them to the fullest. The greatest thanks we can show for our lives is a life well lived where the world was a little better for our having been there. Do the things we love to do the most with those we love as much as we can is really all that life is about. Loving others is much deeper than parroting words to an invisible entity. Why would God need endless praise. Is (he) needy or something? What we do with our gifts is how we show thanks.

At a basic level, the meaning of life is to live or to survive. But it doesn't stop there. Every living organism also participates in ensuring the long term survival of its group, community, or society, and its species. And beyond that, every living organism also participates in evolution - giving rise to new species and new types of groups, communities, and societies, that are more evolved, and more capable of surviving. So, ultimately, life is about the long term survival and proliferation of this chain reaction, called life, that started with the first living organism and continues until today.
But this is only half the answer. Life is also about "reflection", or discovering the meaning of life itself. As evolution leads to more and more intelligent species, they are more and more capable of reflection, and this process will also continue until some living organism in the future finds the true and complete meaning of life, the universe, and everything.

I know what you mean when you say you don't want to hear anything about the bible, especially when it means nothing. The meaning of life is what we do, what influence we have had and trying to get through the awful tragedies.

There is no meaning to life. You're here because your parents doinked each other and one got pregnant, your mother. We are all here because the rules of biology permit it. If you want meaning in your life then allow me to suggest you contemplate the gift of choice. Choose a path that allows you to feel good. Choose to live with integrity and dignity. Learn everything you can; don't wait for the "meaning of life" to find you, find out what gives your life meaning.

The meaning of 'your' life is whatever you want it to be. We're all entitled to our own idea of what life is about. There is no universal understanding of what is the meaning of life. You need to look at you, your life and where you want to go in life to determine the meaning of your life. Its more or less an inner journey discovering certain things about yourself and your life. Good luck in determining the meaning of your life.

The meaning of life (and not from the bible's standpoint) - well that requires a great deal more thought -
Life is a gift - use it wisely.

To eat, sleep, work, toil, be fruitful and multiply.
Everything else is icing on the cake.
I put things and people on TV, into magazines, on radio. Only a few million people in this world can do that and I do it over and over. I'm listed in Who's Who in Entertainment 2nd edition and the Reader's Guide to Periodical Literature.
I still wake up, eat, toil, sleep and try to propagate with females!
That's all we do in life.
Like I said the rest is icing on the cake.
(And don't ask me to do it for you unless you have access to $250,000 in budget! I don't finance, I get paid to do what I do!)
