I took Seroquel for over 5 years. The other's are correct, it can make you drowsy. Some people get VERY sleepy, while others get just a little foggy. It's best to see how it effects YOU before you drive or anything. Also, if by chance you are diabetic, it can cause A LOT of havoc on your blood sugars, that is why I got off of it. You commented that you might be BI-Polar..... please give Seroquel at least a month before you decide if "it works" or not. The drug has to build up in your system before it can take full effect. I wish you the very best!

Depends on the dosage.
They are good chill pills, a little too good. They will make you relax, not care about too much, and all you'll want to do is eat and sleep. Sometimes sleep eating. It affected my alertness for up to 16 hours some clips. It really can put the weight on too. If you don't need it, I wouldn't reccomend it. If you are really out of control and have rage issues, this could be a life saver.
I once took it, blacked out, woke up 12 hours later with straberry jello smeared all over my face, hands and bed. That was at about 200 mg tice per day.
Smaller dosages don't have the same level of effectiveness, but they many not black you out as much.
Currently there are some lawsuits on it because of this, like ambien or zyprexa. It is related to zyprexa.
Anyways, be careful, and happy eating.

Side effects
The most common side effect is sedation, and is prescribed specifically for this effect in patients with sleep disorders. Seroquel will put the patient into a drowsy state, and will help the patient fall asleep. It is one of the most sedating of all anti psychotic drugs, rivaling even the most sedating older antipsychotics. Many prescriptions call for the entire dose to be taken before bedtime because of its sedative effects. Although quetiapine is approved by the FDA for the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, it is frequently prescribed for off-label purposes including insomnia or the treatment of anxiety disorders. Due to its sedative side effects, reports of quetiapine abuse (sometimes by insufflating crushed tablets) have emerged in medical literature; for the same reason, abuse of other antipsychotics, such as chlorpromazine (Thorazine), may occur as well, but research related to the abuse of typical antipsychotics is limited.
Other common side effects include: agitation, constipation, memory problems (anterograde amnesia in particular is very common), headache, abnormal liver tests, dizziness, upset stomach, substantial weight gain, and a stuffy nose feeling. They have the tendency to weaken with time, being most pronounced during the first week of treatment.

communicate over with your psychiatrist about why this medicine replaced into prescribed. For bipolar that is often no longer utilized via itself yet on the area of a mood stabilizer. commence making a chart of the drugs that you employ, how nicely they artwork (enable a minimum of a month), what undesirable area outcomes are latest and the mixtures of medication that you've taken. ascertain that you do keep precise information because they could actually help in the destiny once you've any issues. comprise the date began and the date discontinued and be certain to maintain precise and great notes. before you pass for your healthcare specialist, write down any questions and be certain to take the total record of drugs with you. it really is helpful because six years from now even as your healthcare specialist asks you once you've tried a particular blend of drugs, you are able to answer him without his dealing with 102 pages of your information.

Well when I took it, it made me real sleepy for a long time. Then I was always hungry, I would walk and eat in my sleep and I also broke one of my toes sleepwalking. Ask your doctor to give you a list of the known side effects and decide for yourself if you want to continue taking it.

i was an absolute walking zombie while i was on them for one month. i was soo sooo tired. then after a month i started to get very pscychotic and having panic attacks with it. had to stop it,and the panic attacks went away. be careful. i don't like this med. but perhaps it is effective for some people, you maybe one of the lucky ones, but it does cause extreme drowsiness and in my case a worsening of my pscychosis.
