AIT is much better than Basic in terms of you have more freedoms, however not much more. You are not authorized to bring a vehicle unless the school is over 1 year long. Most likely you will be sharing a room with up to 4 people. Don't bring a TV or playstation or anything like that except a small radio or music player. Bring what they tell you to bring. You will find out in Basic training. You will get a weekend pass to go off base depending on the lenght of your school. You usually have the weekends off but are limited into what you can do. AIT was fun and you get more freedom. You need to take AIT seriously like school as there are tests and you don't want to fail tests or you can be helled back and become recycled into a different class. Ask you recruiter. He or she can tell you alot more.

More than likely you will be in an open barracks, just like basic training. No electronics are allowed unless in can fit your locker, which is really small. You will have a structured schedule and you will have a drill sergeant making sure you are where you are supposed to be at all times. You will wake up at 0400 to do PT, classes are from 0800-1200 and then 1300-1630/1700.

most of these answers depend on your MOS

Sharing a room - yes
strict - depends
off post - yes, after you earn privledges (PT TEST)

bring what they tell you.

have fun and listen do what you are told

should be easy after that - LEARN A LOT
