We are thinking of going very neutral, in all the rooms, except the kitchen, so what color do most builders use? We are going with white trim, and doors. I was thinking of a taupe, so if any one out there has a good brand and color of paint, I'd appreciate it very much!

This is taken from Real Estate ABC Getting Ready to sell your home.
"Painting can be your best investment when selling your home. It is not a very expensive operation and often you can do it yourself. Do not choose colors based on your own preferences, but based on what would appeal to the widest possible number of buyers. You should almost always choose an off-white color because white helps your rooms appear bright and spacious".

I think taupe is a wonderful color and Behr Paints(Home Depot) has great colors to chose from. If there is a color of taupe that you like in a fabric or you have a sample of the color in anything, they are able to scan the color and custom your paint to that color. I found a color I loved in taupe and did just that and have painted my entire house for the very reason you are in my custom paint, woodwork in off-white and the ceiling custom paint in 75% lighter taupe.

I have received nothing but compliments on my colors.

Good Luck!

I would suggest using a lighter shade rather than a darker shade. Lighter colors open up a room and make it look larger, while darker colors make a room look smaller.

What kind of kitchen is it? Is it a large eat-in kitchen, the kind that a family will congregate in often? If the rest of the house is neutral and the kitchen will be used a lot, you might consider going a little brighter. Maybe a shade of light yellow to give the house a little color, but it would still be a very pale, neutral color.

Most builders use white in all rooms and a ceiling white on the ceilings. The buyers then can paint whatever color they want.

Taupe is always a popular neutral that goes with everything.

I prefer Benjamin Moore Abbington Putty.

Try one of the paint companies in your area.

It's best to paint the house entirely in softer neutral tones; choose coordinating tones of the same colour (one lighter one slightly darker). Also painting the ceiling is a modern style, choose a slightly darker version of the same colour on the walls to make the ceiling recede.

Flat white is the best color for all walls a ceilings. The prospective buyer will inevitably chose a color they want, and white is easiest color to cover.

I think that is great choice, although I have seen more and more flip shows using the cranberry red for the kitchens. I would use either behr or sherwin williams.

anything nuteral, mainly magnolia as it gives any potential buyer the best ablity to view the potential, and shows them a blank canvass to invisage the way they would decorate it. They are more likely to buy if they can see it on a personal level.

I watch a lot of remodling shows and they use a light plain red with brown, or a peach color with a light brown. (dont mix them together)
