Doctrine your speaking of Church's. God is a different story! You must believe in the Father, The son and the holy spirit and obey him! It's a way of life, not something you run to church with on Sunday or how much money you give. You can not buy your way in! One of the reasons there are so many church's is people want to believe the way they want to and not Gods way. In 1975 I checked and we had over 25,000 different ones! See what I mean?? Oh and by the way, If folks want to push the trinity thing, That's a man made thing and came out in the late 60's! View the bible as Gods personal letter to us. Some things are laws and some is good info for living a clean and productive life! And yes, They have added to, and taken away from the scriptures! If they truly believed in God, they wouldn't have dared, but they have! It's what God thinks is what counts, not the people, council of church's etc, etc.

It's not about doctrine, it's about having a relationship with a person, Jesus Christ. He will come inside you and show you the Way. It's really very simple, all these elaborate doctrines are entirely unnecessary. He said, "Unless you change and become as little children you cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven." Gospel of Matthew chapter 18 verse 3
Ask him yourself!

not totally the right question
you need to
1) have the truth
2) believe the truth
3) love and treasure the truth which requires a work of God
even the demons do 1 and 2
but who Jesus is (knowing God) and
how you come to God (the gospel)
are essential

A christian must believe that there is a God and an afterlife
Furthermore, they must also believe
Either:
- Jesus Christ was God incarnate.
or
- Jesus Christ was the wisest man who ever lived.

belief and doctrine won't get you into heaven, unless you actually follow it. lot's of intellectuals going to hell... James even says that the devil believes in God...
has you doctrine changed your life.
if you are in christ, then you are a new creature... not a more educated sinner.

lol,
There are 30,000 different "christian organizations". If they can't figure out amongst themselves on who is a christian, is anyone really?
"is christ not divided?"
P.s. the first answerer is wrong, Jehovahs witnesses do not believe in the trinity, and yet they are christian.

By definition, accept Jesus of Nazareth as the Messiah promised to the Jews by God, and accept the Trinitarian Doctrine.
I encourage you strongly to read the whole Bible in its entirety, from front to back, making sure you get a valid translation (one that contains the Pedagogia [aka apocrypha]).
If you still wish to be a Christian after that, well, I at least tried to save you from a life of lies, but hope you find meaning in what you find.
