I've actually given that some thought lately. Unless we change the way we do things I think civilization as we know it may end in the next couple of centuries because we are using up so many natural resources so quickly. Only those who know how to survive off the land will be able to survive. What will the US (and China and Europe) do when there is no more oil or no-one but the rich can afford to buy it. Then we will probably be conquered by some other 3rd world country because they are used to living without the luxuries we have.

The earth and all the universe have been changing through millions and millions of years, and the same way we humans beings came to life several thousands of years ago there will definitely be a time when we are going to disappear form the surface of the earth. There are many different things that can happen to the earth that could make us disappear. Like for example, the earth being hit by another meteorite like the one that killed the dinosaurs, or by a change in the environment like the global warming that can wear out the atmosphere which can cause the sun beams to enter directly to the earth killing us instantaneously. We are in constant change we do not know yet what is coming in the future and what is going to makes us disappear. What we certainly know is that we are not eternal and there is going to be the day when our lives will come to an end. just as a remark, I am not afraid about all these things, that is something that we can not avoid and there is very little we can do about it.

I hope it won't end within my lifetime, and short of nuclear war it probably won't. But I think that humans have fouled their nest and will continue to foul their nest until it is too late. It is a statistical fact that the Earth's polar cap is melting at 3 times the rate it was just 10 years ago. The Earth's ice-caps are vital - they reflect some of the sun's energy back into space. So, with the ice melting, the Earth gets warmer. If the Earth gets warmer, more ice will melt - it's a vicious circle. And I don't know what we can do about it either - Re-freeze the ice? How?

So, yeah, it'll be "the fire next time." Hopefully not for a while though.

Of course it will end...as we know it. The Earth, however, will never go away, nor will it ever be consumed by a giant star - LOL. There's really no reason to be afraid. If you will read Revelation in the Bible the book will give you a detailed account of how things will go down in the end times. True, there is a lot of hidden meaning in Revelation but the basic storyline is rather easy to follow.

As you grow older, more experienced and gain more wisdom you will start to realize and understand that we simply cannot continue to do that which we do in the ways in which we do them. An "end" becomes rather obvious at that point.

The big question, however, is when? God doesn't tell us "when." He does tells us how, thank godness, and as you study Revelation you will start to put two and two together with what it says and what is going on globally on the Earth right now. No doubt, the end times are approaching.

The ones who need to fear the end are those who have not yet met Jesus Christ. People can laugh at and scoff at Jesus all they want but, in the end, they will be ever so sorry they remained stubborn and self-centered.

The way things are going? Growing desertification will rapidly render the land fallow, mass extinctions will put extreme strain on the biodiversity of the planet causing even wider-spread extinction. With plants dying out, more and more carbon will remain in the air, the oceans will warm, rendering them less able to dissolve CO2 (gasses, unlike solids, dissolve better in COLD liquids, not hot ones). In short, catastrophic runaway of the greenhouse effect rendering Earth a second Venus in only a few short centuries. In a few hundred years, all of man's satellites will fall back to earth, and only those precious few remnants of technology on the moon, mars, and drifting into interstellar space will remain of humanity as the intense heat melts every indication on earth that mankind ever existed.

The world shall surely end. It may be during my life or after I die. Nervous about what it will be like when Jesus returns? Yes. I am looking forward to it but I think it is normal to be nervous and excited about something you've never experienced before. Afraid? No. The end will surely come and for those IN CHRIST (and ONLY those in Christ) it will be a wonderful experience. Spripture teaches, though, it will be a fearful day for those who do not claim Christ as their savior.

The world will end when our aging sun expands and engulfs the Earth. This will be in about 5 billion years. So relax, everyone-- we've got plenty of time.

Its not a matter of if the end is near but when .
There are Asteroids getting closer to our planet every year.
If they don`t end the existence of Earth ,then we will ,with our outrageous behavior and hatred for one another
We will probably Nuke each other over religion or cultural differences.
