I'm not afraid of flying, but take off does that to me too. Read your magazine or book while taking off, try to be distracted.

I hate take offs and landings, but I have to fly a lot for work so I just have to push thru it. I guess I just convinced myself that it is out of my control and I shouldn't worry too much. Air travel has certainly become more of a worry in recent years too, but it is not worth staying home, in my opinion. And, statistically, it is very safe. Ask your doc for a Rx- sometimes they will give you 2 of something like vallium- one for the flight there, and one for the return. I heard that Xanax was not good to take irregularly- something to discuss with the doctor tho.

My husband hates to fly! He's tall and claustrophobic. He had to fly to Montana and back last month. He went to our doctor and she prescribed something to keep him calm. It worked really well. He said he wasn't bothered a bit about being on the plane. Maybe you should talk to your Dr. before you go and he/she could do something for you.

knowing your going to be alright helps alot...your more likely to get murdered than in a plane crash.. I always take dramamine, and i sneek a few smal bottle of jim beam on with me lol....you might keep a damp cool wash cloth in a zip lock bag and wipe your face the coolness should recesse the flushness of your face.and take deep breathes and meditate on your breathing while doing it think about each breath in and out... seems to work for me.

Talk your doctor into giving you a small Rx for Xanax before your flight.

I am a coward when it comes to flying. Lately we have been driving from Ohio to Florida, and yes, I am the happiest woman on earth. LOLOL

I find large doses of gravol helps. Makes you sooo sleepy and dopey that you just don't care.
