Not all are bad. and I always give props to them when they solve murders. In my area they solved a women's homicide in just days, with no leads.. he raped her cut her head off and cut her 3 year olds head off.. Sad crap!! They did their jobs. Now when it comes to inconsistent tickets and crap.. I see prejudices and harassment. I am honestly 50/50 on officers.

As with ANY large group of people you will find good and bad, honest and corrupt. The police ARE your friend if you're a law abiding citizen who does what the law says you can do and avoids those thing that the law says you can't do.

Cross the line and the cop will come down hard on you....as hard as he needs to to get the job done.

Don't forget, every one of those cops is a father or mother or wants to be and wants to go home at the end of the night with all thier body parts intact. If you resist, they're going to take you down in a way that presents them with the least risk. If that means you get a boo boo on your *** too damn bad.

If you have a problem with the laws that the police are enforcing such as:
Speeding
Seat belts
Smoking dope
Stop signs
Tying your dog in the back of a truck
Child seats

Or any of a myriad of others that they enforce.....don't ***** about the police. Those laws were put in place by YOU or those you elected. If you have a problem with the laws that the police enforce, talk to your politicians and/or pay more attention when you're voting for them or the tons of laws that come down to be voted on.

Without Police Officers chaos would rule. However; I'm totally split on the issues regarding officers of the law. I've personally have experienced some hateful, racist attitude from them. Yet, I know cops and even work with them. There have been times I've gone to the gym and worked out with them and they are pretty much cool.

Perhaps its there position in life that affects their thinking. They see the worse in society and often have a hard time disassociating. In addition; many are stuck between a rock and hard place; when it comes to handing out tickets. Funds are generated from the tickets and they have quotas. Yes, I'm not dispassionate towards them but wonder about their behavior. Particular those police officers in Boston, New Orleans, and in recent years the Los Angeles Police Department.

Friend? No more than any other worker. I don't want him to be my friend, I just want him to help me when I need it and not harass me when he has nothing better to do. I've met all kinds of police officers, but truthfully I don't have good memories of most of them. Do they really have to handcuff the people who called for help, hold a gun on them and shoot their dog? Can they really walk into your house without a warrant just because the door is unlocked? Should they give you a ticket just for driving in the wrong neighborhood? After insinuating that you wouldn't be there for any reason other than to buy drugs? When you've been attacked in front of your own house should they ask you what you did to deserve it? Can you imagine what it feels like to go for a walk and be pulled over by an officer who demands ID and home address and destination (and for what purpose!). Just for going for a walk?

I have been helped by officers a few times, but that seems to be the exception, not the rule around here.

The police officer has to go home to his family at the end of every shift. If things are not stressful, the police can be your best friend. If there is stress where people or property is endangered, the "protect and serve" mode takes over and locks up anything in sight. From the officer's point of view, better to lock up someone than eat a bullet and work double overtime to sort things out.

Ugh.... Police aren't there to be your "friend", they have a job to do.. When in uniform... they're on a job. So many people wonder why they can't do this or that, well, if you did something at your job that was against the rules, you'd get fired, right? They work for the human race, to serve, protect, keep the peace. And no, they don't crap all over citizens.... If you don't break the law, you don't have to worry about law enforcement officers, now do you?

police are not meant to be your friend. to protect and serve is a PR thing to make the police seem more friendly. the truth is police are here to enforce federal state and local law. that is the pure and simple job of the police. while going about the real job of being a police officer you become unpopular because some don't like to be to be told no. but that's what cops have to do.

It is 100% false. Police officers are freiends of no body. Dim witted thugs who need to hide behind a badge and a gun, serving the interests of the state at the expense of the people.

The police work with strict guidelines, they are not "onconstitutional" in what they do. And in what way are they cowards? Police do things that you probably will never have to face nor could you face.

I think they would even be polite to you after this post, and your other 10 post that are dealing with an odd fetish of women ripping their pants.

Well, well, well... we must have broken a law along the way. Let me remind you that we have laws to protect us as citizens. Police are there to see that they aren't broken, which in fact keeps us safe. Cowards? would you work at a job everyday aroung people who would just as soon shoot you than listen? How many body parts have you picked up lately after a car accident? For the most part, our police officers are upstanding citizens protecing you and me.

HA HA! that was funny...

The police is simply legalized mafia. A very big and powerful mafia but a mafia nonetheless, they will allow you to do certain things like speeding only so that they can milk a small percentage of those doing it on a regular basis. If they were to enforce the speed limit all the time then nobody would speed and that income would dry up. That is mafia behavior. There are many more examples but that'll suffice.

That said, they are a mafia we can somehow 'control' and having a little control over a very powerfull mafia is better than no control of a lot of smaller mafias, so they are in fact a necessary evil.
