Honey you mean "consumption" as in eating. "Consummation" is having sex right after you're married!
Starchy foods tend to be rich in calories and carbohydrates, which need to be balanced with protien and fruits and vegetables for a healthy diet. Too much of anything is not good. Balance is the key; a little of everything. Traditionally starchy foods are considered "fattening" because they provide long-term energy, and if you don't use up all the calories consumed you will gain weight. But the same can be said of too much fat, sugar, etc...too much of anything is too much!

too much of anything is not good for you. starchy food is okay but in moderation, like everything else. it's the healthiest way to live. try to focus more on whole grains, less white flour and less refined sugar. the more complex a carb the better it is for you. it takes more for your body to break it down vs. simple sugars. the molecular structure is bigger. what do you want to know exactly?

It's unhealthy because it leads to obesity and all the related health problems that brings.

It also is bad for the intestines, and can lead to diverticulosis.
