a nice watch? i found a few mates my dad went to school with that were still alive and took him to a surprise dinner where all 6 walked in at different times tell you what just the look on his face, he was so happy it did not cost much but it was the memories that made it special.

Well why dunt you get lots of photos of the family and buy 1 of those scrapbooks frm argos and make him a album with words from all your family inside it and get them 2 sign it too thats special

As a previous person suggested, a digital camera would be appreciated by your dad, as he possibly has a thirty year old 35mm camera that uses film. Another good idea is to hire a venue, get a DJ who specializes in 60s and 70s music, and contact secretly all the folk who have been important to him in his life to attend--what a surprise! Dave

Take old pictures of him, and make a photo book showing him through the years. Or put the photos on a big plaque with a message from you and/or the family! We did that for my grandpa and he loved it!!!

i think it depends on what sort of things hes interested in say sport s an idea may be an autograph or some thing associated with sport something he will remember

if you're short on cash the gift shop or gift section of the argos catalogue is a great place to look for cheap gifts. you can print free birthday cards online.

make him a photo album!.. of pics of him and the family.. write quotes next to each photo.. include memories.. its something he can keep forever from his daughter! id love that as a pressie!
