My grandmother put a policy on me 30 yrs ago. She passed away a few years back and the paperwork was found by my mother. I wanted to contact the company to see if the policy was still active. I can't find the company. I've searched the web and the Yellow pages. Any ideas how to find out if this insurance company is still in buisness? If not what should I do?

Check with the Insurance Commission in your state to see if the company remains in business.

Go to ambest.com. Type in the companies name and it should bring up an address and phone number for you so long as they are still in business. You can also try your insurance commissioners office in your state.

If you will give us the name of the company, someone here may know who bought them. Otherwise your insurance commissioners office should be able to tell you.

check with AM Best - www.ambest.com a lot of times there are name changes, and mergers & acquisitions, and that site can help you track down the company information.

Yup they are right. At worst, just contact your nearest friendly neighbourhood police to get them to check for you.
