They're kind of like breadsticks, but a little sweet and buttery. They were in an old Betty Crocker cookbook that my mom had.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I could be making up the name of the bread sticks, but my sisters and I are convinced they're called "butter dips" for some reason.

Here's the recipe I use, from the Betty Crocker cookbook, but with a few minor modifications. I make these about every two weeks.
1/4 cup butter
1 1/4 cups flour
3-4 teaspoons sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup milk

A couple of hints based on long experience:

Use SALTED butter. Cut it into about five pieces and put them in the 8x8 pan while the oven is preheating to 450 degrees, before you start getting out any of the other ingredients. Mix the dry ingredients, and pull the pan out just before you start mixing in the milk. This will allow it enough time to melt, and still be cool enough to handle.

Weigh the flour - 5.75 oz is exactly right for the perfect texture. You'd be surprised at what a difference a few extra tablespoons of flour make.

You can get a very small wire strainer for a couple of bucks at your local grocery store. Always pass your baking powder through the strainer after measuring, rather than just dumping it straight into the flour. (I do this for all recipes.) Nothing is worse than taking a bite and getting a tiny lump of baking powder - it's bitter and metallic and makes your tongue feel funny.

Stir together the dry ingredients very well before adding the milk. Use a silicone spatula to mix the dough - it mixes better, and you don't waste as much dough.

Sprinkle flour on your counter and turn the dough out. Don't bother with the kneading - it's way too sticky. Just pat it into a square slightly smaller than your pan. I prefer to cut the dough with a bench knife (a wide, flat piece of metal with a handle across the top). Before cutting, I run the knife under the dough to loosen it from the counter. I cut it down the center, then each side into 6 pieces.

Gently pick up the dough pieces two at a time and drop them into the melted butter. Roll them to coat completely, then push to the edge of the pan. Repeat until all of the dough is in the pan.

Bake until golden (17 minutes in my oven). Eat immediately - don't let them cool too much or they'll be tough.
