Curious about how much having 2 or more kids in school at the same affects the overall parental contribution, like on the FAFSA form. Right now, I have one kid in school, and they say I am not eligible for any need-based aid. (HaHa- I am not rich, by the way). I am hoping that there is a significant difference in one vs two.

It might help, but it depends on your income. Basically, your expected contribution should not increase if you have more kids going to school. Essentially, FAFSA monies should make up the difference (ie-you pay $30,000 a year whether you have 1 kid or 2 in college).

It doesn't always work this way though, so you probably will just have to try it and see. You should at least be eligible for federal loans, which have lower interest rates than private ones.

Try searching fastweb or other scholarship websites for alternative financial aid.
