Having been diagnosed with hyper-anxiety, I tend to panic pretty regularly. Without suggesting medication, the three things I can recommend when feeling a panic starting to boil is to a) Stop. Think about the panic and tell yourself it's only a temporary feeling and remind yourself that nothing bad is going to happen to you. b) Count backwards. Can't get your mind off it? Start at 100 and count backwards concentrating only on the numbers. c) Move. Do jumping jacks, run in place, or any activity that will expel some of the added energy the adrenaline rush that panic will create. For an added bonus: Mix and match! Count backwards as you do 100 jumping jacks.

I'm a person who gets worried rather easily, but I hate worrying and the like. I don't like to think negatively about anything, so I just try my best to fight off the worries and the fears, and try to reinforce it with more positive thoughts. Every coin has two sides; one positive and one negative. Never think of the negative without thinking of the positive, too, that helps a great deal with it comes to trying to keep yourself calm and what not.

Deep breathing (breath in through your nose for a count to 3, then out for a count of 6). Repeat a mantra (I am strong and relaxed). Practice often.

Remove yourself from the situation, close your eyes and take deep breaths.
See a psychologist for some talk therapy to see if there is an underlying cause for this and how to fix it. (They do NOT prescribe meds!!) Trust me, been there :)
Good luck!

there are breathing techniques you can do and you can talk yourself into a calm state but it takes a lot of practice.....tell yourself that you are okay and things happen in life and you will make it....just one breathe at a time.......take it slow and easy......you will feel it passing but you must believe in what you are telling yourself or it will not work.

I just tell myself that someone else right at that same moment is enduring something much worse than me, and then remind myself that I am a survivor!
