He actually kind of got on my nerves but it's sad to see someone so passionate about life die so unexpectedly. Usually this stuff doesn't blip on my radar but for some reason this has me down today.

Wow, there's quite a response. I do feel bad for his kids and wife and I really hope someone will carry on his conservation work... I dunno... It's just one of those things I guess. I am surprised it was a stingray that did him in and not something more vicious.

Hi rish,
He was definitely a very unique individual and i think we all admire the passion with which he approached life. Also leaving behind wife and kids- you got to really feel for them.
Since this is in the relgious section, offering up a prayer for Steve's family:
Jesus, just want to lift up Steve Irwin's family and ask you to put your loving arms around them as they deal with the loss of their father/husband/. Please comfort the children and Steve's wife and really allow them to remember the passion with which he approached life as well as all the wonderful family moments. Thank You for giving us Steve and reminding us how important it is to care for our surroundings and to live life with a passion. in Christ's name,... Amen...

I feel bad for him and his family.. but lets face it... the guy was reckless.... remember when he held his baby in front of a HUGE crocodile? I know he is an expert and all but there can always be freak accidents, like what if he slipped or something? This was bound to happen soon or later.. I am just suprised he didnt end up in the belly of a croc or great white.

It's ok to feel how you feel about Steve Irwin...sometimes people don't really pay attention or appreciate people such as Steve because it doesn't apply to their everyday life until the person is actually gone and then you can sit and think about all the wonderful things he's done not only for himself but especially for other people...A lot of people appreciate what he's done especially his famous zoo located in Australia...so many people would buy a plane ticket just to get to see his zoo in person because of all the wonderful animals he has there and his love of protecting them is what attracts people...especially his famous crocodiles I would say. So don't feel ashamed in any way because it's got me down too...

I was annoyed at him most times, and yes he was a bit crazy in the things he did. For example, waving his baby in front of a 13 foot crocodile. That's just uncalled for. However, I do admire his passion and his dedication to nature. He taught us a lot about animals and their importance in the world. He was an overall entertaining guy and played a huge role as a conservationist.
So yes, I will miss watching his crazy adventures as I'm sure many will.
One thing to look forward to is his children who I'm sure will follow in his footsteps and possibly play an even bigger role.

It is a shame but I bet If he were able to choose how he dide it would have been doing his job.The guy did some seriously crazy stuff and chose to live on the edge.My sister is totally bummed about it and I feel for his family but like I said,he knew the inherent risks in what he did and wouldn't have had it any other way.I love the comparison to Jackie Chan. One of my heroes since I started studying martial arts.

I didn't like him as a person. I could never watch more than 10 minutes of his dramatics on TV. But I felt very bad about his freakish death and worse about how the media and awful people are having a field day. BUT Irwin deliberately built this myth up around himself and his reckless actions had to ultimately come to something like this. I hope he learns more wisdom in his next life on Earth.

Just so you're aware of my position, I think that the "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin being speared to death by a stingray is friggin' hilarious!
But my heart goes out to the kids...

I too was very much saddened by his death. He did wonderful work with animals and it was a joy to see how he handled them. Now the son whom he carried into the crocodile pen as an infant will not be able to grow up with him, not to mention the rest of his family. He should have been around for many years to come, and I for one will miss him.

No i don't think so.He was from a diff culture, and we just didn't understand him, Just as the rest of the world,Just because someone is diff does not make them not normal. My heart and thoughts & prayer's are witrh him and his family & friend's

My nine year old son was CRUSHED. I read an article today that likened the impact of his death on many kids to the deaths of JFK or Lady Di on adults. The loss of anyone with such a positive attitude leaves a small hole in the cosmos.
