I just found a box and a half of samples, oh thank goodness. I am hoping that in the next 11 days I can figure something out, I do not want to feel like this again. I say 11 days because that is how many pills I have left.

Totally depends how high your dosage was and how long you were on it. Call your local mental health clinic...hopefully they can hook you up with something/someone until you get insurance! There should be a 24 hour walk in one. You just have to look for it! You can have serious effects from stopping antidepresents like that so please get help hon!

It takes weeks up to months. It is dangerous to try stopping cold turkey and even with tapering off as directed by doctor, you can experience withdrawal symptoms for an extended period. Even when you are through the withdrawal, you are still left with the same problem you had before you started taking it. I did take myself off Lexapro last year because I couldn't afford it but I was very careful about weaning gradually and I still had problems for quite a while.

You can try taking something herbal for the withdrawal. Check out some of these possibilities: You can find these at an herbal store. If possible, try to see a doctor at a free clinic before taking this route (if there is one in your area).
5-HTP (an over the counter serotonin enhancer, somewhat comparable to SSRI drugs)
Kava (a natural anti-anxiety herb)
Melatonin (helps with sleep especially)
I would personally try the Kava alone. I wouldn't mix all these together. Good luck. I understand what you're going through.

It's very dangerous to stop cold turkey. If you want to stop, consult your doctor. He or she will put you on a weaning schedule. Again, what you're doing is very dangerous and no matter the cost, you've got to get your prescription refilled. If you talk to your new pharmacist and explain the situation, he or she may be able to direct you. At the very least, call your old doctor back home and tell him what's going on. Sometimes free samples are available for situations just like yours.

This can be serious.
You need to wean slowly or you can really get messed up.
Get some potent vitamins and some flax seed oil, take the daily dose of those to help stabilize your enzymes.
Take at least a half daily dose of Lexapro till you can get a refill.
Call doctor and explain you need refill sent to a local pharmacy, surely he/she will do that for you.

I took 40mg of effexor and decided i dind't need it anymore and stopped cold turkey. I had been taking it for about 3 years - it took about six weeks for everything to stop. The first few weeks were rough though - i could feel my heart skipping beats, I was crabby and just felt ill all over. There was nothing i did other that wait it out. Exercise helped. Good luck and feel better.

it may last a week or two... you really need to get in to see a doctor. When you abruptly stop taking an anti depressant it can do more harm than good... your not just going through with drawl... your chemicals in your brain are going back to irregular... try to stay stress free and anger free and make sure you relax until you can get insurance and meds... trust me , i've been through this before
