A number of people who are trying to be funny leave ridiculous and/or crude questions on Yahoo Answers on a daily basis. What's disturbing to me is how many people actually bother responding to these questions. Someone will post a ridiculous question and it will usually get at least 20 answers (or more). Someone else will post a serious or legitimate question, and it will be lucky to get half as many responses. By answering these morons questions your only encouraging them to post more like them. Yahoo answers can be very helpful, and a useful tool, for those that use it for the purpose it was created for.

Please stop encouraging stupidity by not answering these questions. I agree that some of them are funny (or offensive), and it's tempting to want to respond to them, but if you didn't, it would be better for everyone.

Thoughts??

ive noticed that as well, one girl actually had her title to her question as "SEX!SEX!SEX!" and then the paragraph was about
something actually serious, she said she used that to get peoples
attention. I thought that was pretty lame that anything sexual or completely retarded gets like 50 answers. what is more annoying is that some people will pour their hearts out on this thing and they get answers from retards that will say stuff like "idk, but I'd
F### you or something vile like that. Personally, what really pisses me off? You get these stupid Europoeans that write questions like "why are americans so stupid?" and bash americans all day long then when americans answer the question
they send me mean emails and harass me. like, WTF? dish it out and can't take it much? They make all europeans look stupid.
I know we have free speech and all, but this is rediculis. This is what i think: theres people on here who dont come from countries
that dont really have rights and free speech, and they're poor, dirty, and generally not educated, or hell, just plain stupid. so they're like, not "good at it, you know? Like when russia got freed from communisim, and all of a sudden these stupid commrades
were freezing their @sses off waiting in line for bread. I think you should have a stupidity limit on this thing and if you do stuff too
stupid, you get bumped off for good, like you can only get away
with 5 questions or comments or something like that. I know
I'D LIKE to govern that task

First of all, this is not even a question! Should I report you?

You have no right to worry about what others do. If you are offended by a question on here, skip it! No body is making you read them or answer them!

I personally, find this to be a fun site to kill time. I ask and answer the so called ridiculous questions. It's all in fun!! If there is a question on here I don't like, I move on!

So please do us all a favor, grow up! If your questions aren't getting answered, there's a reason, and it's not because they're getting "lost".

True about the stupid questions, but we all have a different definition for stupid. Also annoying are the questions that they can answer themselves, like "what is a galaxy?" If the would type that quesion in yahoo! or google, they could get the answer to their own question. As far as seriousness of some questions, I don't think too many people are qualified to answer some of the "deeper" type questions people may ask. I think this type of forum is better suited for discussion type questions or the like.

lighten up. While I agree there's a great number of postings, including very vulgar, innapropriate ones that have no place being on here let alone written down.... I also have posted dumb answers to dumb questions... (innocent/funny dumb) Some times you just need a break from all this reality.. Some times you want to be able to call someone an idiot...some times you want to read something so outrageous you smile for the whole day.... This is not life or death here... let 'em have fun!

Should it bother you so much what people you don't know do? If they are so moronic why are you reading them? If it bothers you so much then don't read them. I agree that there are a lot of infantile questions posted on here, but we also need to realize that the majority of the posters on here are young. Young teens in fact. I don't believe you can "encourage" stupidity. There will always be someone who needs attention, just as there will always be someone to give that attention. Have a great day.

Stupidity can be a realative thing. Most questions would be stupid to Steven Hawking. Ever hear," the only stupid question is the one not asked?" I think what you are seeing are kids who have failed to get a reasonable education and think its real cute to ask the silliest question they can come up with. Yahoo has made this a competition. Ever checked the leader board? Spme have answered thousands of questions. It doesnt show they are intelligent, just wasting time instead of cracking the books. Very immature people kids are. lmao

The world is an uptight place and it's my personal duty (along with others) to loosen the ropes on humor. Long live 'The What Should I Do Retard!'

Also, if I post a question that isn't serious, I do try to be witty. I'm not always joker. Most of the questions I answer, I do so in a serious nature. I like to help people who have real questions. However, I also like to have fun with the ones who are here to have a good time.

I agree, I think it's just because they ultimately lose point but they would gain them back if they do not choose the best answer. I admit that some of them are really funny too... but I am on here for serious purposes. a bit of the fault is yahoo for doing the point system. What bugs me more then people posting dumb questions is people answering my serious questions with "Thanks for the 2 points" I almost want to post a sarcastic comment like "Thanks for waisting my time loser !" but there will always be immaturity where ever you go!

I'm with you on this one, although I also realize that many of these stupid questions (as well as answers) are being posted merely for entertainment purposes. You can surmise by some of the questions, the age and immaturity of the writer, so that pretty much says it all.
It's a real challenge to not answer some of these people with a simple "shut up and grow up" answer.

Yahoo Answers can also be FUN. Some of us find it entertaining. If you don't like it don't respond to those questions. And maybe the people asking really want to know. Who are you to judge what's ridiculous? Lighten up!
