I strongly recommend Los Cabos, MX. It is amanzingly beautiful and has great weather all year round. There is so much to do there. This place is so diverse, you can find resorts that accommodate every lifestyle. That is, whether you are looking for:
family vacation
romantic vacation
adventure vacation
party hard vacation

just make sure you find the right resort... if you are interested email me and I can give you some suggestions.

Well for you the answer is easy - New England! Just rent a car and drive up the coast. I'd make Newport Rhode Island my destination. My hubby and I made this drive from New York a few years ago. It's only about 3-4 hours and the foliage is just beautiful!

Alternatively - you could try a cruise. The prices are best in the fall. The kids are back at school, so the ship carries very few of the little screamers! I'd suggest the Caribbean - what a terrific vacation.

Clearly hiking in the northeastern mountains. Go to Albany, Hanover NH, or Burlington VT and you can see the leaves change.

Actually, last fall I went to Japan and they do many things for the changing of the season, and it was just SO incredibly beautiful over there, and the most pleasant weather in October and November. I would recommend it if you have the money for that kind of trip. It was amazing.

NYC and DC are really good in the fall too... it's less crowded, and the weather is pleasant.

Consider a fall cruise that leaves from Boston and goes into Quebec. Beautiful scenery, colorful, and a great relaxing way to see some interesting cities along the way. Best part - unpacking only once and no driving!

Drive down to WV and travel the Shenandoah Valley, then onto Blue Ridge Parkway all the way to Cherokee, NC. Go across mountain to Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge. Scenery is beautiful and lots of things to do along the way.

It depends on what kind of thing you like to do. I would love to take a drive up the coast in Vermont/New Hampshire in the fall. I've heard the trees there, when changing colors, are beautiful. Plus, you have the mountains and the ocean all right there. =)

Vermont, or many places in New England if you want sightseeing . Florida and much of the Carib. get great weather in later fall ( watch out for hurricane season in earlier fall) and the prices are still quite low in most spots. Stay clear of the great lakes and pacific northwest areas as they get some of the most horrendous weather on earth that time of year.
