Don't believe it!!! It's impossible anyhow to wait for the baby and then miss out on the first special weeks, because you still have to get every thing.
It's something the excitement builds up in time, enjoy that!
It's a little miracle happening so every chance you get enjoy that feeling, and superstition should not get in your way!!

What a load of old crap! no its not "bad luck!"

I am 26 weeks pregnant and have the pram, cot and clothes ready. I can't imagine what we would do if we didn't "keep it in the house". Store it in the shed for it to get all damp?? Go out and buy it all after the baby is born? No thank you.

Its 2006 people!! We need to stop beleiving some old shite that our Great Aunt Mildred told us when she'd had too many shandies.

Its an old wives tale but I do stick to it to a certain extent! I am pregnant at the moment and have got some stuff like clothes etc. but wont buy pram and cot until I am about 36 weeks! Dont want to tempt fate!

No, none of it has to be bad luck.
I took a month off work before my first baby in order to get all the stuff organized. So everything was in the house before the birth. Then I still had all the stuff from the first baby when I had the second and third - all three are fine and healthy.
(I did put it all in God's hands though - hope this does not offend you!)

I've never heard of this being bad luck - just plain common sense!
I had loads of baby stuff ready in the house before my first child was born and all went very well.

How can buying a pram influence your prgnancy? You would still have lost the baby whether or not you'd kept a pram in the doorway.
Think about all those mothers who keep their first child's things for their other children in the attic!

Just a superstition. Most people wait to buy the big things until they're closer to delivery because they want to make sure that things are going to be okay. I'm at 22 wks and have a few baby things around that others have given me. I have yet to go out and actually purchase anything for myself. In fact I probably won't buy much other than onesies and diapers until I'm closer to delivery. (Mainly because I'm due in January, so shorts aren't the best idea for baby in the middle of winter.) =)

the old wives tale is you can buy it but you shouldn't have the pram in the house until the baby is born

I don't think it's back luck at all. When I had my 1st we had bought every thing and it was all kept in my house, We had bought it all about 2 months before the baby was due.
