Shotgunning is a means of consuming a canned beverage, especially beer, very quickly by a particular technique involving punching a hole in the side of the can near the bottom. It is usually practiced as a form of drinking game and is especially popular among college students.
To shotgun a beverage, one rubs for about 15 seconds a spot on the bottom of the can straight down from where one drinks out of a can. Then one punches a small hole in the side of the can near the bottom where one has rubbed before the tab is pulled; this is usually done using a key or other sharp instrument. The drinker then places this hole to his or her lips, tilts the can right-side-up, and pulls the tab in the usual manner. The combined effects of gravity and the pressure change that follow when the tab is pulled cause the beverage to be forced out of the can, and into the drinker's mouth, very rapidly. Unless one is skilled in the technique it is easy to become soaked as the drink rushes out of the can. Depending on the beverage and the way the technique is performed, a beverage of twelve US fluid ounces can be consumed in well under 10 seconds. Accomplished shotgunners can consume this amount in several seconds. The method of shotgunning a beer is demonstrated by John Cusack and Daphne Zuniga in the 1985 film The Sure Thing. A more updated film featuring the art of shotgunning can be seen in the 2002 film FUBAR and in the HBO show Entourage. Furthermore, the most recent Hollywood documented depiction of shotgunning can be found in Broken Lizard's 2006 hit "Beerfest."

shot gunning alcohol is taking in as much as possible without breathing. the funnel works well, but i like to shotgun out of a beer can.
take the beer and lie it down in the kitchen sink. take a sharp object like an ice pik. puncture a hole in the side of the can near the bottom. pick the can up and put the your lips over the hole. take a deep breath and then open the top of the can. the beer will rush down your throat like a water fall. be careful. the first couple of times u may choke. it takes a bit to get the hang of it,but in no time u will be doing three or four in a row.

Tilt a can of beer on it's side, either over the sink or in the grass (it might squirt a little), take a knife, pocket knife, or a key and pierce the can near the bottom. Put your mouth over the hole, tilt the can back up and open it. The beer will come out really quick and you gulp it up as fast as you can. :) Cheers!

pop a hole in the bottom and with the hole in your mouth open the beer and the whole beer comes rushing into your mouth, its just a quick way to drink a beer, speaking of beer i need one, thanks for the reminder
