I'm tired of everything --politics, war and life in general, being spoken about in football metaphors.
But it doesn't matter. Some people have no more imagination than that, and little else in their experience to use as reference points.

Yeah... I guess some people think that if a certain analogy helps them to understand then it'll help everyone. I think it's more helpful if a pastor uses real life experiences to relate the passages to. That helps to put things in real context... or use food analogies, everyone understands food! lol

It's funny how some analogies can get on our nerves. Just tell the pastor, or whomever, that there are other analogies and parralels out there to get a point across.

If the stupid follow sport rather then religion then there would be less wars, so while I am personally uninterested in sport I am glad it is there!

Way back in my days as a pastor I never did sports illustrations. I talk about art, commercials, television shows, music and science. People hated my illustrations. I got so much flack. I even had a couple people tell me that I should talk about sports because it was something they could relate too.
Guess you can’t please anyone ever.
