I reminded her before I left this morning. I called her workplace at 3:10 and they said she just left so I drove down the street to get her but couldn't find her. Will the dentist bill me? I didn't actually confirm the appointment because I kept forgetting to.

I'm not worried about my daughter's whereabouts because it is usual for her to hang out with friends. She's probably gone to the mall to meet up with them. We don't live in a dangerous town.

Our policy is to "reserve the right to charge", meaning we may or may not.

If a patient repeatedly reserves time and then fails to show, we will charge. If it is a one-time thing and there is a VERY good reason, we might waive the charge.

If you don't charge a fee, there are a few people who think it's no big deal to keep a dental team standing around waiting, thus making the entire rest of the day run late. We would rather not have to do this, but there are always a small percentage of people who abuse our schedule. It seems fair to make those people pay the costs, rather than increase fees for everyone.

If your daughter is old enough to have a job, I'd think she'd be old enough to remember and keep appointments. Does she show up for work on time?

At least a 24 hour cancellation policy at most offices. If your daughter does not have a legitimate reason for missing her appointment, she should pay the cancellation fee out of her own pocket. Lesson learned.

It depends on your dentist's policy. Some will bill, some won't. Alot of them like a 24 cancellation notice. You can try calling them and explaining that it was not your fault.

Some dentists/doctors do charge for the missed appt. if you don't call them 24 hours in advance to cancel.
