Well there was this guy that made a clever bomb with just a battery, a rigged watch, and an eyedrop bottle with explosive chemicals inside. He forged a fake passport, and got his tools and wires past airport security by hiding them in the sole of his shoe, which is just under the range of the metal detector. He assembled it in the washroom of the plane, and planted it in the pouch that holds the lifejacket under the seat. He rigged the watch timer to go off and explode the chemicals in the container when he got off the plane. After that, I don't think they would let you carry that battery on. By the way, don't worry they caught the guy.
