Or is this just superstition and propoganda?

No, we don't. Satanists hold children and Animals in the highest regards. That's all just superstition fueled by propaganda. It totally goes against what we stand for to harm children or animals. Pay attention to # 9 & 10

The Eleven Satanic Rules of the Earth

by Anton Szandor LaVey ©1967

[Spanish, Croation]

1. Do not give opinions or advice unless you are asked.

2. Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure they want to hear them.

3. When in another’s lair, show him respect or else do not go there.

4. If a guest in your lair annoys you, treat him cruelly and without mercy.

5. Do not make sexual advances unless you are given the mating signal.

6. Do not take that which does not belong to you unless it is a burden to the other person and he cries out to be relieved.

7. Acknowledge the power of magic if you have employed it successfully to obtain your desires. If you deny the power of magic after having called upon it with success, you will lose all you have obtained.

8. Do not complain about anything to which you need not subject yourself.

9. Do not harm little children.

10. Do not kill non-human animals unless you are attacked or for your food.

11. When walking in open territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask him to stop. If he does not stop, destroy him.

I'm going to break with the other Pagans here and say, yes, some do. Mind you, it generally is fairly rare, and typically only a small percentage who do - but Paganism and Satanism are broad categories, and encompass a wide variety of beliefs.

Now that that's said, Pagan animal sacrifice is not the typical propaganda-laden slaughter/blood orgy of the horror stories. It involves an animal that has been well cared-for, treated with respect, and killed in as fast an painless a way as possible. The animal is then prepared for food and shared with the gods. It is, essentially, very similar to kosher or halal slaughtering practices.

Mind you, many of the Pagans who do practice this tend to keep it low-key, even from other Pagans, because people (even other Pagans) tend to have an unnecessary knee-jerk reaction to the word "sacrifice."

I have to make this quick.....the goats are trying to break through the bathroom door and I can't have them loose in the neighborhood again. The neighbors are already suspicious and I really don't need cops here asking too many awkward questions about my *faith*

Generally when someone says 'pagan' everyone thinks the Wiccan people are the ones being referred to. Pagan just means a religion outside the mainstream propaganda. Wiccans do not sacrifice animals, but there are other 'pagan' groups that do. Hence the damn goats in my bathroom...did you know that one goat is capable of eating an entire roll of Charmin Ultra in less than 20 seconds? I'm impressed!

There are Satan worshipers that do sacrifice animals as well.....just like there are the weekend Christians and Catholics who partake in all sorts of activities that their churches do not condone. There are Satanist that break the rules too. (hehe a rebel Satanist aaaahaahaa) So there are Satanist that follow the rules of "don't kill animals unless you are protecting yourself, others or plan on using the dead animal for food"
Nice loop hole there. I use it a lot....
"No Mr Johnson I am not "sacrificing" these goats....I am preparing them for the Hawaiian luau I'm having later! Bring some beer, bring the wife and kids it'll be a blast!!"

Of course the luau is always canceled due to rain...always.

For a start Pagan and Satan Worshippers are not the same thing. Pagans as a rule do not believe in Satan so how can they worship. Pagan covers a wide range of beliefs, i think many would be surprised at what is there if they were open minded enough to listen. I beleive in a higher power of LOVE. The fear is often installed in us as children as to what will happen to us if we do not follow certain doctrines. It for love we do these things not out of the fear of what will ahppen if we don't. Most religions of all kinds are based on love. The end is the same so what difference does the path make?

the true Satanist usually do have animal sacrifices sometimes even human/baby sacrifices. Look at the ancient cultures, like the Mayans, they always had animal/human sacrifices to their gods, which their gods were really demons that fell with Satan and fallen angels(fallen angels did not take part of the rebellion with Satan, they committed great sin that cast them out of Heaven). They do this so they find favor in Satan's eyes. The fake or so called pagans and satan worshippers will not take part in sacrifices, they are just satan worshippers by name

why would you put pagans and Satan worshipers lumped together in the same question? those are two totally different religious sects...of which BOTH do NOT do these things!

i find it very ODD when people ask silly questions like this when they have NO idea about the "religions" or "lack of religion" a certain person/people have.

it makes you sound ridiculous. and Christians used to sacrifice animals to their god! *now they just sacrifice their hard earned money.* tithe away theists.

It's funny that you mention this as being something Pagans do -I work with a Muslim who comes from a small village in Northern india and he believes that the best way to get rid of a cold or other minor illness is to cut a Chickens open and leave it to bleed to death.

I thought the world was getting more civilised until I started working with this guy -he wears a suit and tie everyday as well, it just goes to show you can't tell what things exist in the world nowdays.

I am Pagan. WE DO NOT SACRIFICE ANIMALS OR CHILDREN. I know more than a few Satanists who assure me that they do not sacrifice animals. Most if not all Pagans hold all life to be sacred.

It's the misguided psychopaths who claim to worship satan or whatever, who believe the horrible religious stereotyping and hollywood myths about animal/human sacrifices.

As a Pagan I feel I am a steward of the earth and all Her creatures. I have NEVER slaughtered an animal neither to eat or as a sacrifice.
I was under the impression that the slaughter of animals as a sacrifice was a Christian practice in biblical times.

Pagans and Satanists do NOT engage in these practices.

There are a few very disturbed nutjobs who may claim Satanic affiliation who do these things, but they are pretty much universally disowned by the entire Satanic community, as well as by Pagans of all kinds.
