I am a Christian, and I have read many hours in the bible, but I can't help but have mixed feeling about this.

I see where in the bible it says,
if you lay down your life for your brother , you life will be saved.

If you love your life, you will lose your life.

Do do unto others, as you would want done unto you.

***************************************************************

So I am wondering if giving blood, organs, is helping ones in need, or is it being weak in the faith that Jesus can heal them?

I once was going to be a organ donar but I want to make sure it not wrong, and I have read and spent time in the bible, but still have mixed feeling about it..

Can anyone show me Yeah or Nah in the bible Please?

On the issue involving blood - Genesis 9:34, Acts 15:28,29

As for donating/receiving organs - true the bible does not speak of these things, since they were not even conceived of in those days.

As for you are not sure, then prayer is the best choice.

And, if you still remain unsure - then don't, since you would not want to go against your conscience, and perhaps that is the answer to your prayer.

Dear smh,

i have studied the Bible for 15 years and have never come across a passage that prohibits the donating of blood and organs. The Bible does teach us to have faith in God and that God is able to heal. And the Bible does also teach us to have love and compassion for others. The two teachings are not mutually exclusive of one another- God is able to use our compassion to bring healing to others and it is not showing a lack of faith. Jesus didn't just heal people physically- he touched their deeper need.

Personally on my lisence i'm an organ donor, because when i die it is my soul that goes to be with the Lord and we will one day receive a new body. So every organ that i have if it can help someone- hey why not give it away.

i'm a light weight and Diabetic so it's hard for me to give blood- but whenever it's accepted you do it. The Bible tells us in Galatians 6:9-10 to do good every opportunity we get. Also in Proverbs it tells us a similar thing. i think we find over and over not only in God's word but also from the world's perspective that believers are to do good in the name of Christ.

Giving blood, organs, to help others is not showing a lack of faith. And we have to remember we have a good God who knows our hearts. He is not going to not heal someone because someone donated an organ (if that's perceived as a lack of faith). i think if you donated an organ- it is faith in believing that God can use your sacrifice to bless and heal another person. Faith is simply trusting in God's ability-- it doesn't have to be complicated by making things harder to prove that God is really able. He is constantly watching and working and we see from God's word that although not always the most effective means- God chooses to use people.

Here are a couple of Bible verses:

James 2:17- faith without works is dead.
Galatians 6:10- Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, ...

Hope that helps,

Nickster

I would say it's okay. I'm an organ donor because why should I keep my liver if someone else needs it? I wouldn't say that it's a lack of faith, if someone's heart is not working anymore, and their body is shutting down, then why shouldn't they be helped?

However, I see where this is a grey area...if people's organs are shutting down, is this God's way of saying it's their time? I look at it this way: God gave us minds to come up with ideas, such as organ transplant, so that we can help others. Their life is ultimately in His hands anyways. Lots of people who have organs donated to them and transplanted into them have their bodies reject the organ. Donate your organs and let it be up to the person recieving them.

I do not know if it is in the Bible or where to find it. I truly believe that if it does someone good, or saves their life, it is a good thing. I have donated my organs and my whole body to science upon my death. If I can help save one life, it is worth it. Why bury perfectly good organs when they could be a lifesaver? I believe that God is pleased with me, because only my soul will live for eternity. My body and organs will turn to dust.God bless and I hope you find your answers!

I am a Christian and I am not a organ donor per se - I have donated my whole body to science - and I do not feel that it is in violation of any thing that is said in the Bible! GOD said love one another - what better way to show your love for others then to allow them a better life!
I hope you will become an organ donor!@

well, it doesnt really word it that way
"I see where in the bible it says,
if you lay down your life for your brother , you life will be saved.

If you love your life, you will lose your life."
it more so means put Christ in control not you. but as for your question, its a great thing to do. Jesus wants us to be his hands and feet and by donating organs to people to save their lives you are doing just that. awesome question though,
Matt

yes i say give them away. If u have never done anything good in your life, this would be it. If somone is in need and u have it, give it. Men in the Bible were willing to sacrifice their own sons for the Lord, and if u no longer have use for them, why let them rot under the earth when someone's life might be saved by using them.

Its not in the bible, but I don't see how donating your organs after you are dead is wrong. Your soul will be gone and the earth doesn't need your organs, so why not help someone else with them?

It is not wrong to be an organ donar. You will be helping your brothers by doing that. I am sure Jesus would be happy.

Being an organ donor is never wrong. EVER. no matter what some 2,000 year old book says.

It's the greatest blessing you can bestow on your fellow man.
