It all depends on a number of factors.

First, the fat content--animal fats are the worst kind for the human body. However, when taken in moderation, especially in low fat, reduced, or skim milk, the danger is negligible.

Second, chemical additives, such as artificial growth hormones, antibiotics, and traces of chemical fertilizers and pesticides are all bad for you, and have been linked to several health problems in humans. To avoid this, spend a little more and get certified humane milk, from certified free range humane farms.

Third, in the US, all commercial milk is pastuerized. This kills all the bacteria, including the beneficial ones. Some states allow farms to sell unpasteurized milk, which many health advocates promote as better for humans. This "raw" milk contains beneficial bacteria, that helps the body in many ways, including promoting health of the intestines.

Lastly, anything in excess is bad for you. If you're drinking a gallon of milk a day, that's too much. Drink less--too much protein in your body gets converted to fat cells, and it can also create problems with the liver and kidneys.

There are theories that because cows where domesticated later than other animals our bodies and guts aren't use to the lactose in the milk.
But in the end it depends on you.
If milk gives you diarrhoea, or makes you vomit, stop drinking it.
Also try and go without cow milk for maybe a week or two (using goats milk or soya) If you feel better, cut it out for good.
If you feel indifferent or worse, back to cows milk.

Dairy products are a health hazard. They contain no fiber or complex carbohydrates and are laden with saturated fat and cholesterol. They are contaminated with cow's blood and pus and are frequently contaminated with pesticides, hormones, and antibiotics. Dairy products are linked to allergies, constipation, obesity, heart disease, cancer, and other diseases.

And dairy products may actually cause osteoporosis, not prevent it, since their high-protein content leaches calcium from the body. Population studies, backed up by a groundbreaking Harvard study of more than 75,000 nurses, suggest that drinking milk can actually cause osteoporosis.

Cow's milk is an inefficient food source. Cows, like humans, expend the majority of their food intake simply leading their lives. It takes a great deal of grain and other foodstuffs cycled through cows to produce a small amount of milk. And not only is milk a waste of energy and water, the production of milk is also a disastrous source of water pollution. A dairy cow produces 120 pounds of waste every day -- equal to that of two dozen people, but with no toilets, sewers, or treatment plants.

check out www.milksucks.com It gives you some info on cows milk you may not be aware of. I found it very interesting, but still haven't given up drinking a little milk now and again. (I was never a big milk drinker to begin with)

It is not bad for you although some milk has a very high fat content. The milk that is best for you is fat free and 1%. When you get up to 2% and 4% that is when there is a very high fat content.

it isn't bad for you, but it is high in calories so try to think of it as a food rather than a beverage. Some of the beneficial properties come from its high calcium, protein and vitamen A content. However too much (e.g. more than a pint a day) can cause stones to form in your kidneys, so be aware of that.

some people say so because its for baby cows but the calcium is very important for childhood development. my mom used that thinking of "milk is for baby cows" so she never bought milk when i was little. then one day im sitting in my 5th grade class and suddenly two of my teeth shattered. i didnt know what to do so i put the teeth shards in my desk and tried to compress it with my tongue. it healed over time and luckily they were baby teeth so i started drinking milk so my new teeth could be stronger (and still are strong and healthy today).

yea. thanks mom

in closing, milk is good.

Not at all. Milk is very healthy for you. Choose fat free, 1% or 2% milk.
