Don't go Army -- GO AIR FORCE!!! Trust me on this one: I've been a member of the Air Force Judge Advocate General Corps for almost 13 years as a paralegal specialist, and the reasons for choosing the Air Force over the Army are way too numerous to list here. I'll sum it up very simply: I have friends and colleagues in all five branches of the service (yep, Coast Guard included) and they have all said the same thing: "MAN, I wish I had joined the Air Force!" Just say the word and I'll get you an interview with the SJA at your nearest Air Force installation. Heck, I'll even give you the name and phone number of our recruiting office in The Pentagon if you want it. I'm telling you straight up: YOU WILL REGRET IT IF YOU DON'T GO AIR FORCE. Nothing else comes close.

Well if your going to be a lawyer, your probably going to come in as a second lieutenant. So you will have to deal with officer protocol. All the actual lawyers i know in the JAG corps are officers. There are several law related positions for enlisted soldiers as well. The branch of the Army you are going into is relatively laid back. You will rarely be in any danger even if deployed to Iraq. Good luck

If you are planning to be a lawyer for "everyone" I am sure there will be many different opinions and much too many people for your to handle alone. I would suggest that you determine how you feel about the army and then find someone who is in trouble because they feel the way you do-then, if you are a lawyer you could represent that person.

So you will finish law school, pass the bar exam, and then join up?
That would be great.
If you are short of money, you could probably join Rotc, and be an officer, when you graduate.
Maybe you could be a reserve officer, and go to college.
Be careful, when you sign up.
Do not sign up to be enlisted. It sucks royally.
Don't believe in luck, so I say: wish you well.

In view of their lackluster performance as of late, they'll soon need some competent defense attorneys.
