Halloween is not important to pagans. Samhain, which falls near that date, is. The Samhain date changes every year and astrologically it falls at 15 degree Scorpio. Consequently, sometimes it actually does fall on Oct. 31 but more often than not, it lands somewhere in the first few days of November.

I follow a Celtic path, so Samhain is the beginning of our new year. It is a time for honoring our ancestors and celebrating the harvest. It marks the season that I start to become more introspective and I review the last year. It is a time for a thinning of the veil between the worlds and divination. For a very good article on Samhain written by a professor of Celtic studies:

because All Hallowed Eve is the day when the veil between the spirit world and our own is thinnest and therefore is the best time to call forth spirits. And yes, it is a religious holiday. As is Easter - which is named after the Pagan goddess Esther. (it's the spring fertility celebration)

It's not, but my birthday is only 4 days after Halloween so I like to celebrate it there.

AHHHH!! AAHHH!! AAAAAHh!

Translated: I find it's the only day of the solar year in which I can go outside without a costume on.

Religiously speaking, it is not important to me. Culturally speaking, it is fun.

It isn't.
Isn't it only "important" for Satanists (because they do human sacrifices and spread evil, of course.) and some Christians (because they know about the sacrifices and pray against the evil that'll eat people's souls? Or is it the weevil that will eat their crops?).
