Well, I am the parent. My children teach themselves most of their academic work.

We live in the United States of Oregon. (LOL)

We are not crazy, nor prejudiced, we love our children, our friends, our family, our town, our State and our Country -- that means everybody in it too!

We home school in order to give our children a chance to become strong in their faith, their knowledge, and their associations. We want them to be able to grow up to be hard working citizens that contribute to the good of the entire community.

How to start? We started by doing it. From birth our children are our responsibility. We teach them how to figure things out for themselves --- we show them how to walk by walking. We teach them how to talk by talking.

When they are ready for academic work we teach them how to understand letters, and numbers. They learn phonics and math-facts. After they become really good at reading they spend their days studying math, writing, and reading.

We use the Robinson Curriculum as our base. The children work through their books and they study anything and everything that they want and need to learn.

To initially begin all you will need is a good math text book, writing paper and pencils, good books, encyclopedias and a great dictionary. Study for anywhere from 4-6 hours each day.

The measure of your success will be equal to the work that you are willing to do.

Yes, I am home schooled, actually I do correspondence, but it is practically the same thing and I've been doing it all my life and right now I'm a Senior
I live in Kansas
No, I teach myself. Of course in elementary school my parents had to be there to teach me. When I got into high school, I teach myself. For example, I have a book that tells me what pages to read, how to do assignments, times when papers are due.
My parents started homeschooling my brother when he was in third grade and now he had graduated from college and is a math teacher, but is teaching English in Russia.
I think that there is a special license that is required to be able to teach one's children at home

You used the wrong form of the word 'there'. I live in GA, I am home schooled, I do home school through DVDs, and I started homeschooling when I was four and my sister was six.
