I live in Jamaica and curry goat is really popular down here. It is very good. The meat has a texture similiar to pork and it doesn´t taste gamey when it is curried (I don´t know if it normally does since the only way I have had it is curried) People are sometimes hesitant to eat things that are different, but remind them that they have probably eaten goat cheese more than once.

Goat is very much like Lamb, just make sure it ain't too fatty and grisly cos it can be as tough as old boots. Curry goat is very nice! You should be able to buy it from a good butchers but if you have any Afro/Caribbean shops in your area then they will probably be your best bet.

Goat meat (called chevon) is excellent provided that it is NOT from an old billy goat. If it is from a young goat and prepared carefully, it is every bit as good as lamb. Use rosemary, thyme, and pepper, summer savoury, or curry and lemon.

Tastes good curried! More simialr to Mutton than Lamb.

Contact caribbean Food stores, or caterers/cafe's, there should be one or two in Leeds which is not that far from you & aks them where they get theirs.

I have been able to buy it all over UK (already cooked).

I suggest you try it in a Caribbean cafe first to see if you like it before cooking it.

Generally used in celebrations, usually vaiable in relevant festivals.

Enjoy.

NB: Snapper fish is good too, and dumplin, and ... donm;t get me started

Goat tastes pretty much the way they smell. It's nothing like lamb, it's very pongy and gamey and once tried never forgotten! Yuk.
