I know this guy who is a raging alcoholic and he sharts in his pants every day. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term, sharting is when you fart and excrete fecal matter at the same time. He talks about having stains in all of his underwear. Could this be a result of his drinking?

Below is a very good website on the effects of alcohol on the body. Long term alcohol abuse can lead to inflammation of may of the intestinal tissue and affects the absorption of nutrients from the food. This can cause some of the symptoms you describe, and I'm sure that after a heavy drinking session you have found yourself on the loo with very loose stool, just imagine this on a constant basis. Also alcohol leads to altered body control and thus may be unable to control his muscle in his anus allowing not only the fart but poo as well.
Your friend should consult a doctor if this continues or get worse as alcoholism can lead to ulcers of the intestine which can burst and he may bleed to death.
Alcohol abuse leads to many serious medical conditions. BE WARNED

Sharting is not caused by alcoholism, nor do all alcoholics have this problem. Diet is one cause of sharting. The lack of eating properly and ingesting a proper amount of fiber can cause loose stools and when the lack of proper food is extreme, as in alcoholics who would rather drink than eat, the stools can turn watery. Bacterial illness is another cause. This watery liquid is easily pushed out when a person has flatulence and they can not stop it.

Not to worry though, your acquaintance sounds as if he is at the latter end of alcoholism and won't be around much longer to bother you. Soon his abused liver will give out and he will experience a massive internal hemorrhage which may or may not be violently sharted through both the anus and the mouth (if that happens when you are with him, get out of there or you will be covered in blood. You can't do anything, at that point he is a dead man walking).

We were lucky with my brother. His hemorrhage stayed inside his body so there was no big mess to clean up.

I think it may be more of a common factor between drinking and sharting... Drinking doesn't cause sharting, but insead the uncouth nature of the "gentleman" causes both the excessive drinking and the sharting. Either way, its pretty disgusting.

On a completely different note, I was on a bus and a drunk woman got on, and ended up peeing all over the bus as she walked towards the back. That had nothing to do with your sharting question because there is an obvious effect of drinking on the bladder, but I really wanted to share that story.

It's also an indication he works for the Federal Government in a clandestine operative capacity. These people live very repressed lives. Having so much knowledge of the general public gives them assurance they'll get the fattest picks of the land, only to, alas, be rejected once more. I mean ... have you taken a good look at a government op lately? Your boyfriend there seems to fill the description beautifully if he doesn't bathe.
