They aren't required. In fact, more and more motels/hotels are removing them. When i go to a hotel/motel, one of the first things i ask them is if they have Bibles in their rooms. If they say yes and I a am not in a hurry i will just walk out. If I am in a hurry, i will ask if they will remove it from mine or i have asked them before if they have any rooms that have all the holy texts in them. I have also been known to not say anything and to just go through the bible and highlight the most absurd verses or deface it in other ways.

Motels/Hotels are not required to have a Bible, but it's just another way how religion tries to damage the minds of gullible people. This is a form of stealth brainwashing.

The Bible is the biggest load of garbage and codswallop ever written by man, and I’m sure it will go down in history as the greatest load of gobbledygook ever to inflict such traumatic mental and physical damage on humanity, but still today, some people sadly believe the Bible to be true. That’s very sad indeed. Very sad.

They aren't required to. The Gideons began placing them in hotel rooms in the early 1900s, I believe, as a service to traveling businessmen. Hotels then just carried them as a tradition. If you'll notice, many hotels do not have them anymore.

Love, Jack.

Let me guess, you just cant sleep next to a table that has a bible in it. Christians are the only ones with no rights in this world, so you might as welll take the hotel Bibles too. We arent aloud any other expressions, so why should the Bible in the drawer be aloud either!!! I am actually very shocked that they have been there this long.

Interesting question, but I'd be more interested in learning why all motels/hotels are required to have stained sheets.

They are placed by the Gideons(not required). And judging by the response to the question, they put them in the right place. Alot of sin goes on in the hotels, but it is good to know that God can reach you anywhere. And he reaches the sinners too. Thank you Gideons and open minded hotel owners. Thank you!!!

They aren't. The Gideons offer them free, and most motels/hotels accept them.

They aren't.
The Bibles are donated by the Gideons International. They are paid for with donations from individuals and churches.
