never went but it looks so cool! okay, it's a drug-fueled orgy, but check out the art cars!!!
Yikes!! There are lots of people who have no idea what you're talking about. It's a big festival that draws artists and musicians and hippies and just a bunch of very crazy people. It's kind of an exercise in survival because it's oput on the playa, but it looks very cool. the only cars allowed are art cars and you barter instead of using money. it all culminates in the burning of a wicker statue of a man. no they don't burn a man, you sillies!!

No but I set my best friend on fire once while light a bbq grill. Does that count (I still feel bad about that Jeff.. Even thought it was 15 years ago). BTW he wasn't seriously hurt..

Hindus do burn their dead bodies as they think that 'fire' is the most sacred and pure element on this earth and if we get into fire we will go straight to the heavens as our sins are soaked by the holy fire or 'agni' as we are burnt in it.
