I coined the phrase myself..its called language discrimination. Whenever you see signs posted Spanish asking for workers, that means they are discriminating against English speaking that do not know how to speak Spanish. This is also the case when an employer only wants bilingual people working in a establishment and the establishment is overwhelmingly Hispanic (that probably violates Affirmitive Action. Shouldn't a workplace be equally mixed with all races and ethnicities?). Whenever you drive in a neighborhood and see a sign to sell a house in Spanish and not in English, more than likely its meant to target Spanish speaking peopel to buy that house. I think this needs to be regulated because what if I want to buy that house because it looks nice but I cant because I didnt know the house was for sale in the first place since the sign was in a language that I couldnt understand!!
Fellow Americans, call me crazy, silly, whatever, but you better get with the program fast!

To la dolce vita:

Im not blaming anything on anyone, I'm just making an observation. Whos to say that its the employer that needs to be regulated to prevent that from happening.

FYI: There are Hispanics out there that dont speak Spanish also.

lamp062400,

I think you are making a generalization. I'm sure all black people don't treat you with that disrespect, and if its the case, I know it goes both way because ive been called racial slurs by hispanics as well (ie, mayate, etc). And you surely dont make it any better by calling me a cabron, either.

Why is the Truth so difficult to take.Maybe you don't live in a border state where signs in Spanish are posted everywhere. We went to a city in the state of Indiana far from the Mexican border,we have friends there and were looking for a second vacation type home.We drove around the areas we liked and found one or two we favored. We ended up buying one that fit our needs perfectly.Keep in mind that the city of choice is Carmel a very upscale area.We didn't see any signs in Carmel that were in Spanish( my husband and I speak Spanish)The next day we drove to other areas just to acquaint ourselves with the surrounding city's.While in Indianapolis the largest city in IN,we were on Washington street in the south part of the city and all the signs were in Spanish.Imagine our surprise ,here in the Midwest we find they have the same problems and complaints about illegal immigrants as we do .Tho not in the numbers we do this state is over run and unable to care for its on needy people now they have an invasion of non English speaking illegals too.The hospitals are feeling the crush of people that must be treated but do not pay.Its a national problem not just the southwest.NO amnesty ,report and deport.

i became there for the 2d wave of feminism interior the US and that i in simple terms needed to have the potential to word for a job even though if adult males often did it (interior the 1970's want-advertisements have been separated with the help of gender), needed to bypass to artwork without nudie p.c.. on the partitions or being sexually at a loss for words (I had extra advantageous than one supervisor or co-worker tell me interior the 1980's that if a woman did not stay at domicile to boost teenagers, she became a s!ut and deserved to be taken care of like one on the placement of work; the EEOC did not submit sexual harassment rules until the 1980's), and if i wanted to have a newborn, not be fired through fact of it (The being pregnant Discrimination Act wasn't exceeded until 1978). the marriage and relatives go away Act in simple terms have been given exceeded interior the 1990's so adult males or women human beings might desire to be able to guard your sick youngster or determine without having fired. i could say there is rather some room for progression interior the US, and don't see any of it having to do with supremacy..

First of all, I agree with the bilingual job comment, but some employers consider that a job skill.
Second of all, I have NEVER seen a for sale sign in Spanish. And speaking as a realtor, if you did want to buy the house, even if the neighborhood is predominantly Hispanic, I would sell it to you anyway (assuming you wanted it). I'm looking to make my commission!
Did someone discriminate against you, is that why you're angry?
Don't worry, I'm Hispanic, and have been discriminated against over stupid things!

Dude, thats stupid. Knowing another language and taking the time to learn another language is considered a skill. If you want a job that requires typing or computer skills is that employer discriminating against you because you do not posses one of those skills? If you were in another country and they had a place that was hiring english speaking people to help with customer service in their company would you jump on it if that was your strength at the time? Open up the mind a little. If you found yourself in a country you've always wanted to visit and had to use a book to translate wouldn't you be grateful to the people that thought of you and posted a few signs in english to help you along your way? I think your just a little racist. See, I'm hispanic. I am Mexican. AND I live in the SOUTH. I have never met more racist people. Where are you looking for work? Are you looking for a house? Is that house in a predominately hispanic community? See, here in the south, everyone is black. I go to work and EVERYONE is black. ALL of my neighbors are black. Those same people treat me with disrespect and tell this AMERICAN CITIZEN to go back to Mexico. I don't know where you live but you really need to get out a little more. QUE VIVE LA RACA CABRON!

(alright alright, I'm sorry, I couldn't help myself, I don't really think your a goat.)

LOL! Dude, get over it! I know I got to you. Let it go. SSSHHHH! It'll be ok. OH, by the way, you don't think that you are generating hatred and encouraging racism? Check out all of the lovely answers you got in response to your question. By the way, where did you get racial slurs from what I wrote? CABRON isn't a racial slur, it was just a spanish way of saying "your an idiot" Well, that was the emotion behind it anyway. If your gonna tell me off then at least know what your talking about. I think you just need something to complain about. If you really wanted to buy a house that was for sale then call the dang realtors, don't just sit around on yahoo answers and complain about it, your losing possibly the best house you ever came across and all because you had to sit around and complain about spanish speaking people in your country on yahoo answers.

Another thing you happy racists are missing is that, spanish speaking means, Mexico, Cuba, Panama, Chili, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Honduras, Ecuador, Peru, Columbia, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, El Salvador etc., etc., etc. This list goes on and on. So to those of you that think it's just Mexicans invading your country with Spanish, Grow a brain, go back to school, even just look at a globe and see that there is more than one type of Spanish speaking country trying to be a part of the USA. But everyone is being called Mexican because we mostly have the same skin color. AND! JUST BECAUSE YOU SPEAK SPANISH DOESN'T MEAN YOU ARE NOT AMERICAN! SOME IDIOT ABOVE ME SAID THAT SPANISH SIGNS ARE FOR SPANISH PEOPLE NOT AMERICANS? I WAS BORN AMERICAN! I SPEAK SPANISH! You people really are shallow in your intellegence.

I agree. I do tourism promotion and the other day I had someone call me to complain because none of our brochures are in spanish. Can you believe that? I asked around and someone else said that they get calls like that too. I thought in America we spoke english? When my Grandparents came over here from Italy, Poland and Ireland they had to learn English. Why do people today think differently? Its frusterating, I can tell you that much.

I had almost decided to stop buying items that had the Spanish written on it too. My favorite toilet paper has Spanish on it. I can't wipe my @ss on anything else, so I have to continue to play the game that it seems we are losing. I agree we need to do something fast, but the politicians are too wrapped up in their bureaucracy to save America.

So so true. Did you notice on like Press telegram or the pennysaver ... there are ads in spanish as well? Places for rent, job offerings etc. Billboards or advertisments on the buses, even on foods? That needs to go in the trash. It makes the hispanics even lazier to learn our language.
