Catholic people are telling you a lie, if they said Mary stayed a Virgin.
Catholic also worship a statue of Mary, when the Holy Bible is against Idols for worship....
Jesus has several "earth" brothers and sisters, some was even at the cross when he was Crucified.
I can give you Jesus Christ Brothers "Mary and Josephs" children after Jesus Christ was born if you want the names...
Email me if you want Jesus Christ "earth or Half" brothers names, why the sisters name aren't in the Holy Bible not for me to say.

It's not just Catholics that believe that, Christians believe that as well. For a somewhat graphic description, it is said that the spirit of God "came upon" Mary...now a spirit is not a physical thing, so therefore there was no physical contact between Mary and the Spirit. Therefore, Mary has to be a virgin. However, how did the "seed" (to use the Biblical terms, and be somewhat descreet) get into Mary? Now that's the miracle. I think (totally a theory) that it's possible that Mary felt something physically during this conception (as the spirit came upon her), or that the "seed" was simply placed in her womb miraculously by God.
And for those that are thinking it, NO, Mary was not raped by God.
I hope that helps!

Yes, Mary remained a virgin even after Jesus was born. She had no other children.
When the angel came to Mary and said that she was to have a son and He would be the Messiah, note that Mary questioned how this was to be since she did not know man.
Mary was betrothed to Joseph at the time she received this message from the angel. If YOU were engaged to be married, and you heard this, you may question whether your son was going to be the Messiah, but not that you were to have a son. Any woman who is planning on having children would not have had the question mary did.
Mary was a consecrated virgin. Her marriage to Joseph was so she would be protected and have someone to support her. She planned on remaining a virgin and not have children even after she was married. This is why she said "How can this be, since I do not know man"

All the Catholics I've ever spoken to believe that Mary remained a virgin after giving birth to Jesus. They even believe she was born without original sin (thanks to something called the Immaculate Conception). These things are both part of the Catholic tradition, which is held to be on a par with Scripture (i.e. the Bible).
However, there is nothing about either of these things in the Bible. Indeed, Jesus reportedly had at least 7 siblings: 4 brothers who are mentioned by name, plus 'all his sisters', which implies at least 3, for a total of at least 7 (Matthew 13:54-56).
Catholics point out that in that cultural setting, these could have been cousins. I shall leave the reader to look into the matter for him/herself, including the weight that should or should not be given to tradition, and decide the right interpretation.

Yes, Catholics do believe that Mary was a perpetual virgin. But many will say that Jesus had brother (Matthew 13:55-56). But the question is not so simple to answer. Therefore, it is necessary to examine the issue of her perpetual virginity in hopes of providing a more biblical position.
The word "virgin" in the New Testament is "parthenos" and it occurs 14 times. However, the word does not occur in Matt. 1:25. Instead, the literal Greek says, "and he knew her not until she gave birth to a son and called his name Jesus."
This would seem pretty straight forward that Joseph had no sexual relations with Mary until the birth of Christ and that after the birth of Jesus, they had relations. The word "until" is a preposition and means, "up to that time, before a specified time, to the extent that." But again this is only one viewpoint and I have found no real definite answer.
At the same time we cannot discount the fact that this question will not be proven or disproved until we can ask our Heavenly Father when we meet him.

Yes, Catholics believe this -- I seem to remember reading it in the Catechism somewhere (I'm an ex-Catholic). This mistaken belief is proven incorrect by Matthew 1:24-25:
"24 Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, 25 and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name JESUS."
I do not believe Mary ever had other children, though. The answerers quoting passages refering to Jesus' brothers and sisters do not understand that the original Greek words, (translated as "brothers" and "sisters" in English) did not necessarily imply this; instead, the Greek words can be used to imply cousins, very close friends, disciples, AND brothers/sisters.
Jesus' words when He hung on the cross confirm there were no other children (see John 19:25-27): He gave His mother to John, and gave John to His mother as another son. In those days, a widow who died without a son to look after her was in a very precarious, disadvantaged position. Why would Jesus have commanded John to look after His mother if there were other sons who would do this willingly? I think the only safe conclusion is that there were none.
Peace.

"Virgin" in the time of Jesus, meant "young girl". There was a competing religion ("Zoroastianism") at the time that had a virgin birth, so at a council they decided that Mary was one too. I'm not kidding, even though the Christians are going to be howling about this. And yes, they do believe she was a "virgin" in the modern sense of the world. The also believe that the wafer and wine literally turn into the body and blood of Christ - its called "transubstantiation". Logic doesn't always play a role in religion, and I am not into a religion that is a form of ritual cannibalism. I wonder how many Catholics have thought about that.

Consider who/what Mary actually was. In the old Testament, the manna (food from Heaven), Ten Commandments (word of God) and staff of Aaron (priestly staff) were kept in the Ark of the Covenant; the most holy object known, only touchable by the High Priest. Now consider who Jesus Christ was; his body is real food, he is the Word made flesh and is The High Priest. Mary is the new Ark of the covenant. Knowing that God smot Uzza just for touching the Ark, don't you think it possible that Mary had a special calling to chastity?

Yes for many reasons. What man would dare to touch the Mother of Jesus? Joseph knew who Jesus was. DO you think a devout Jew would touch the mother of the Messiah? Joseph had been married before Mary. He had other children and since Jesus was presumed to be his biological child they were considered His brothers.
