It has been in now for about 2 hours and it looks the same as it did when I put it in. What's the deal?

Oh it's going to take a lot longer than 2 hours. It's called a SLOW cooker. LOL, sorry!

Between 4-8 hours on HIGH...depends how tender you want it. There should also be plenty of water or broth.

Everyone is right in regards to 4-8 hours. However, stew meat cooks faster if you brown it in a skillet before you put it in the crock-pot. It also makes the meat more tender.

If your in a hurry...brown meat on all sides and put in crock pot on high for 4 hours...don't lift the lid to look.
Instead, spin the lid to dispurse the condensation off the lid.
Lifting the crock pot lid will add more to the cooking time.
