I firmly believe that being single is much better than being with the wrong person. I hated marriage to my ex husband and was so happy to be free again when I divorced him. Now I'm with the most wonderful man I've ever met and if I lost him I would be so sad. But I wouldn't look for another man. I feel that now I've found happiness with him, if there came a time when he wasn't there anymore, it's as if now I've really known happiness with him, I won't ever need to look any more. I can still envisage being very happy single rather than be with anyone but him.
There is more to life than being part of a couple and your relationship even if it is brilliant, is just one aspect of your life. Think of all the things that make you you: the music you like, the things you like doing in your spare time, whether that's painting watercolours or messing about with boats or motorbikes, the work you do, the things you believe in. No one person can be the sum total of your existence, and neither of you can exist as a reflexion of the other one's love.

I'm really happy being single, but then i've been really happy in relationships too. being single is great and i'd rather be single than in a relationship that isn't really working. i obviously don't want to end up alone with lots of cats, but until i meet someone who is totally right for me, single is fine.

I love being single, I doubt if I would ever give up that freedom! It took awhile to get used to at first, but now I would not swap the bliss of living my own life with the shackles of being in a relationship. I can do what I want, when I want and how I want!

After my divorce I am so much happier now. I don't have anyone telling me what to do or how to do it.
I can come and go as I please.
I don't have all the extra chores that comes with a husband.
I do things in my own time, not on someone else's time table. (well except for my little one)
The stress level is down considerably.
I have the whole bed to myself and don't have to listen to someone snore and keep me awake, or smell a nasty *** fart in the middle of the night.
I actually have control over the remote control....lol
I have a steady boy friend so I still get the love and attention that is needed.
So to me........I have the best of both worlds.

I think it all depends on the point you are in your life. I just broke up with my boyfriend of almost three years. It feels great to be single and see what else is out there. But I eventually do want a relationship again. I can't wait to be somebody's everything.

As more and more women become less co-dependent on men they find more options in life and choices.Back when I was young, girls got out of high school and often times got married and raised a family, her life was centered around husband and children, this left little time for self.Today more and more women want to know self first and explore life on their terms.

I'd rather be in a relationship. That said, it could just be due to fear - I've not been single since I was 13 and I don't really know what it would be like.
